*A/N:
Hey guys! I apologize for being so inactive lately! I've been having some issues in my classes among other things! I actually do have some good news though that made my whole day a ton better though! I finally got the courage to come out to my two closest friends, my aunt, and my uncle, so I'm not stressing much anymore thanks to that. Anyways, I just wanted to give you all a quick update and yeah. Enjoy!
A week has passed since Alix and Rocky had been attacked by Jordan's "minions". There wasn't any sort of confrontation between the two groups, but there was obviously tension still lingering inside Taylor. Each time Emily and them passed by Jordan, or literally anyone for what matter, her head would always jerk up quickly to make sure that nothing was going to happen. No one can blame her though. After all, the last thing that anyone wants to happen is a fight between the two. Even if it is a public high school, it seems that the rate of "accidents" climbs more and more each year. It is the 21st century, so the whole concept of sexuality has been set in what you could be, or rather be interested in. Still, acceptance is still hard to find in such areas.
The small congregation of friends walked cheerfully in the hallways without a care for what the "normal" students were thinking or what they were saying. The level of violence may have skyrocketed a bit, but they were used to it by now that it didn't really even matter anymore. Before school began, and as they strutted through the multiple corridors before reaching their designated lockers, they had bumped into Jordan. Literally. Alix immediately tensed up from both fear and hatred, but Rocky cut in front of him to ensure his safety. Jordan simply chuckled lightly, glancing to Anne before blowing her a kiss out of nowhere. She walked off before anyone could react, but Anne shivered in her jacket with a disgusted look on her face.
"That was honestly... really weird..." She mumbled, reaching out to Emily to comfort her.
"Can't we just like, you know, kind of rough her up? Just a little?" Taylor questioned, griping her hands tightly. "I hate her so much! Ugh!" She stomped her foot against the freshly cleaned floors. Jane placed a hand around her waist, pulling her closely to herself.
"We can't just attack her out of nowhere. Then again, if she surprises us with... something, then of course we can dish out some payback!" Jane snickered, thinking of multiple ways to get back at Jordan. A loud and raspy sigh interrupted their plots against Jordan. It was Anne. She had a clear look of confusion and even disapproval on her face, crossing her arms to go against their idea.
"No, we are not going to do anything. Yet. I'm just happy that she's after me and not Emily. She will be graduating next year, won't she?" We all looked to Rocky for an answer. She shrugged and laughed lightly to, hopefully, lighten the mood.
"From what I've heard, Jordan's going to be retaking most of her classes this year because she's failing most of them. Especially English." Taylor squinted, shocked by that someone could actually fail any class at this school, especially English.
"Are... Are you sure we can't just hide her somewhere? It'll benefit the whole school probably." She tried to persuade us. Everyone shook their head before grunting with agitation. They all went their separate ways to get to their lockers before simultaneously jumping back as soon as the door swung open. On the inside was a single letter addressed to all of them. They were plain white on the outside, but on the inside the color was a vibrant crimson color that was covered with black letters that had been cut out from different magazines. There was no name at the bottom, but there was only one person who would do such a thing.
"Jordan..." Anne grumbled, ripping the later open to actually read what it said. After a few moments, she gasped and tossed it to the ground to step on it. The rage in her actions alone showed how either idiotic or unbelievable Jordan really is. "What the hell does she think is going to happen, huh? That I'll just drop Emily and go out with her? What utter-"
"Calm down, Anne. What's wrong?" Emily asked, placing a hand onto her shoulder to comfort her. An ounce of pain shot through Anne's eyes as she looked back at Emily. Her mouth parted as if she was about to say something, but she chose to stay silent and instead pass Emily the note.
"Anne, meet me at our usual spot. After today, I will do anything to make you mine~"
Emily peered back up at Anne who was still silent. It was clear that she had been hiding something, but Emily didn't lash out and asked her to explain what had been going on.
"Jordan... had offered me some compromises in exchange for you and our friend's safety. I know that it was probably a bad decision to make, but I was desperate, ok? I hated seeing us all hurt from this, so I just wanted to lessen the suffering just a bit..." Anne trailed off, unsure of what else there is to say.
"You this something this important from me? I thought that we were friends, partners, mates... Anne, why didn't you just work it out with me? We could've figured something out together! Look-"
"I was scared!" Anne shouted. Her head dropped and her shoulders sagged lower. She sounded as if she would cry at any moment. "I was scared... I just... I thought... It's hard to involve you in such potentially dangerous things! I thought it would be better to keep you safe than to risk you getting hurt..." Anne's legs began to wobble, and soon after she fell to the ground. Her sobbing filled the hallway, attracting much unwanted attention. Emily quickly grabbed Anne and guided her down the corridor and into a secluded room. The rest of the gang filed in behind them, closing the door as soon as they were all in to prevent anymore people from listening in.
"Anne, I can protect myself you know. Yes, you want to defend me, but you're going too far! I can stand up for myself. I have to be strong for you too... Sitting back and letting you handle everything is not an option." Anne's sniffling came to a halt as Emily raised her hand up to wipe away the tears from Anne's eyes. "I want to be there for you too." There was a brief pause between them. Then, Anne sucked in a deep breath before nodding slowly to acknowledge what Emily had said.
"You're right... I'm sorry... I'll um... I'll take you to where we have been meeting then..." Anne said, enclosing her hand around Emily's to guide her and the others.
The six of them went down the halls and then down towards the back of the school that is rarely ever used. Multiple rooms were line up down corridor and there was a staircase that led to the second floor of the isolated building.
"We're almost there guys..." Anne whispered. A short walk later, they all paused in front of an old faculty room that hasn't been used in years. "I'll go in first, so you five have to hang back here until I give you a signal." Anne's hand slipped out of Emily's as she took a step closer to the closed off room. Shuffling could be heard from inside, but to be sure Anne knocked on the door five times before entering. The place was completely quiet besides faint whispers from inside. Suddenly, a scream echoed through the building. It wasn't from Anne, but it came from Jordan.
"You're such a fucking bitch! Why can't you see that Emily doesn't actually care about you like I do? I just want to keep you safe, Anne..." Emily burst through the door, consumed by her anger. It was obvious that she was upset by the accusations, but even more than that she was upset that Jordan was scolding Anne for choosing her girlfriend.
"Just so you know, I don't say this often. I have maybe said this once to someone before or maybe not at all, but fuck you Jordan! How are you going to tell who Anne should be with? You're just a little coward. That's it. Why don't you say everything to my face?" Emily paused, waiting for an answer. Silence filled the room, allowing those inside to hear each others breaths.
