Ships: The two classics; Prinxiety and Logicality
TW: Swearing and death
I kinda got inspired to write this after watching the above animatic. It's really good. And I'm addicted to the song.
BEFORE YOU READ THIS, YOU NEED TO READ THE CHAPTER TITLED 'Ready As I'll Ever Be' in the Sanders Sides booklet by amarooze! It's kinda a continuation of her chapter.
Lol, I didn't technically ask permission, so sorry about that Mags!
Also, I'm gonna be experimenting with this chapter by doing something I haven't done in a while, so let's hope it goes okay.
Note is at the bottom.
My hand shook as I clenched the fabric in my hands. As I wrapped it around my neck, the scent of roses filled my nose. Suffocatingly so. To me, it was a constant reminder that I had failed. Failed to protect. Failed to serve. Failed to help. Failed to do what had to be done.
The roses that had become your emblem had become blackened by your one desire.
All you wanted was to be a royal. I still remember. All you wanted was to be able to serve the people. Your hazel eyes sparkled with determination. You were so humble, so grounded, so compassionate. When you told your parents that you wished you were of royal blood they called you ungrateful and arrogant.
"Royal?" They had sneered. "We work day and night for you, and it still isn't enough? How spoilt can you be?"
They had it wrong. You were anything but that.
But now. I don't know.
You had wanted so badly to help that you had fallen into the trap of that wretched man.
And as I marched up through the citadel towards the castle, armed with the sword that you had taught me how to handle, I stared up at the balcony. As you did years ago.
I saw the flutter of a cloak as you sauntered onto the balcony, eyeing the people behind me as if they were your prey. You licked your lips, and I felt bile rise to my throat at the thought of you enjoying the pain you would cause to the very people you had dedicated your life to serve. I swallowed it down.
"No weakness." I repeated. The very same words that you had said to me when you ordered the guards to rid me from your sight.
And suddenly your eyes were on me.
Time froze, as for a split second, your eyes flashed at me with tearful desperation. But it was over as soon as it begun. Your eyes filled flooded with a colour that resembled molten gold.
Your eyes no longer held the childish light that had kept us all entertained. Your eyes no longer held the kindness that had garnered you so much support from the people. Your eyes no longer held the dramatic flair that had earned you the nickname 'Princey'. Your eyes no longer held the sweetness that had made me fall for you in the first place. Your eyes no longer held the understanding that had helped me when I turned up at your house at 3 in the morning, covered in bruises and blood.
You are no longer who you used to be.
At least, that's what I thought. That split second was all I needed.
