Alone Together

Clay's pov
I climb back down finding Kai on the ground making tiny flames with his hands, I remember what I called him, I didn't mean monster like that, he hasn't done anything bad, I was just so worried at the time, new place, new things, I sit beside him and ask "So how does your element work?" He shrugs and gets close "So you aren't afraid of me anymore?" I shook my head and say "I was just startled, that's all" I stare at the flame in his hand, how could I have insulted such an amazing and beautiful ability, to make fire out of thin air, to control something so dangerous yet so light and breathtaking.

I rested my head on his shoulder "You're amazing Kai, I'm sorry for being so heartless before, I truly am" he kissed my forhead and said "Hey it's ok, you're not the first person to freak out over a person with the ability to control fire" I sigh and stared at the flame in his hand "So what will we do now?" Kai replied "I don't know, maybe we could just take a small break and talk" I guess that would be fine, we talked about each other's realms again with the differences and similarity, then Kai seemed to lighten up when a brought up Monstrox "So first he's a book, now he's a cloud? What next? A virus?" we both laughed a little, it did seem kinda silly, Kai tells me about this Overlord character "Looks like you're not the only ones with a shapeshifter, except at first he was a ball of light, or in his case darkness, then a dragon and afterwards a virus, the only difference between Monstrox and Overlord is that Overlord actually managed to get his human body back" we both laughed.

We stopped when we heard a rustling noise, it was just a rabbit, Kai grabbed it and pet it, I climb back up the tree and see some squire bots were walking and searching, I could tell it's us they're looking for. I jumped back down and told Kai about going deeper into the forest, he went along with me, after a few minutes of running I think we're far enough from any villages, how dissappointing, I was having a good moment with Kai and the squire bots ruined it, but then again they probably wouldn't even have the guts to come into the forest, literally!

Kai could see my anxiety so he puts the rabbit up the my face, did he really take it with him? "Calm down Clay, we are far from those robots, let the bunny rabbit calm you" I looked at the rabbit's face and watched it's nose twitch, I pet it, it did calm me down a little, the fur is so fluffy, for some reason the rabbit reminds me of Jestro. I look around, what now? We can't keep running forever, would this even die down tomorrow or will there be more of an uproar? I sigh, I look at Kai and decided to lighten the mood "Hey Kai, want to duel?" He nods smirking "Sure, you didn't forget your sword right? It would be nice to actually start it" I pull out my blade, Kai did the same, just so Kai will take me seriously I say "I won't go easy on you just because you're my boyfriend" he replied "Well of course, don't expect the same from me" We battled, the sound of our blades clashing, the adrenaline coursing through me, the battle was epic, Kai was a worthy opponent, better than those Monsters, from time to time he would even shoot a few flames. When I thought I was going to defeat him he kicked me from under my legs causing me to fall on my back, he pointed his sword down at me and said "Looks like I've won" before I could say anything I heard a squire bot scream "Oh my gosh the foreigner is going to kill Clay Moorington!" What? I get up and say "He was not, would I let myself get killed?" The squire bot said despite how I got up and Kai's not doing anything violent "I gotta tell the- ACK" I see a sword was through his body and Kai was holding it, he took it out and poked the bot seeing if it was still moving "KAI WHAT THE HECK?!" "I DON'T KNOW I FREAKED OUT!" I sigh and say "It's ok, he's a squire bot, we'll just repair him and he'll be ok" Kai picked up the bot and said "Yeah this guy's beyond repair" I shook my head, Robin can repair him. I pulled out my phone and decided to call Ava, it's a risky move since the king could be waiting inside or someone could be listening to our phone calls

 Jestro's pov
It took a while to explain but they finally believed me, Macy was angry "I can't believe it! This whole time my dad was possessed and we couldn't even protect him! If he's possessed then... where's mom?" Ava gets a call and she says it's Clay, they set course for a nearby village, when we got there they run in, Clay stopped when he saw me and said "Jestro?! What are you doing here?!" I explain everything and Clay was infuriated, but he kept his cool and said "We have to save the king and queen" Lance tried to be smart and replied "Yeah, no duh!" Both Clay and Kai said in unison "Shut up Lance" Lance did a hmp and walked away. (Everyone be dissing on Lance, no clue what dissing means)

Clay and the others go to a table to talk about the plan, I stare at Clay not paying attention to the plan, not like he's telling me it anyway, *sigh* Jestro you had your chance, you were too late, but then again would he had accepted it in this form? In this state? With this reputation? With these mistakes and sins? I want to get over him and let him be happy but that becomes harder and harder each time I see those two... they just look so perfect for each other, as if they were two different puzzle peices not even from the same box yet fit perfectly.

I walked around the fortrex knowing I'm not needed, I've done my part so what now? I can't go back to my old self, I can't go back to the castle, I'm still not trusted here so what use am I now? All I can do now is just sit in a corner and think, I try to lose myself in my thoughts and maybe take a nap, suddenly I hear my name, I look to see Robin "What are you doing here? Aren't you going to help us now?" Help how? "I've done my part, what else can I do now? I'll just get in the way, besides, I've caused too much trouble already" he replied "Sure you made some mistakes but Clay and Merlok always tell me to not give up, everyone makes mistakes, but those mistakes show us what we did wrong and we end up learning something new and become a better version of ourselves" I smiled a little, I still owe them after all, I get up and follow Robin back, there they gave me a summary of the plan, I decided to help.

Kai's pov
It turned to night, everyone went to bed except for Clay, I stayed up with him "Are you sure you don't want to go back home?" I nod and replied "I called them already that I'll be spending a night or two here" he sighs "I'm just worried, Monstrox possessed the king, that could cause a problem for us all, he could have us all executed if he wanted" I held his face in my hands and said "I said I would protect you Clay, that includes your friends" he gave me a half smile and said "Thanks Kai but this is our fight, you have no quarrel with Monstrox, he's our enemy" I shook my head and said "He trying to get between us, of course I have quarrel with him, besides if you save the king then that will get you more of a chance with your gayness being accepted"

He sighs "Please don't take this as offense Kai, when I first met you how I felt was confusing, I wasn't attracted like how people say love at first sight, I only liked you, but I wanted to understand why I was confused, you and your friends are so different, but for some reason you stood out to me, when I felt strong feelings for you... improper feelings I thought something was wrong with me, I tried to prevail at everything I could, to make people proud but I just became more confused when I didn't want you as a friend but more than that, when I went back to Knighton I thought I was just going crazy because of all that happened but no matter how much I try to fight or deny it I can't stop thinking about you, after we got together I decided to no longer fight and give in, I must've become this way for a reason, I like you a lot and I'm happy when I'm around you but there's just that small bit in the back of my head saying I messed up or I'm wrong." I kiss his forhead "We're all this way for a reason, if the king doesn't accept it then he'll have to answer to me, no one should be ashamed of how they look, act or feel. you're perfect Clay... just the way you are, I'm thankful everyday that I met you" he showed me my favorite smile and replied "I love you Kai, I promise you we'll get through this together, as a knight and your lover I will keep it"

I remember one time when we read the Knight's code it said it was against it to go back on your word, he's just so irresistible! With his little sword and sheild and armor and everything about him! He rested his head on my shoulder, this feels nice, I decided not to mess with him and smudder him in kisses, I don't want to ruin this moment we have right now, our moment alone together.
