Chapter 30

  Kai's pov
I wake up coughing, I remember that I nearly drowned, I saw someone standing above me, did Ronin save me from drowning? I say "T-Thanks for saving me R-Ronin" I heard Ronin say "You're welcome but I didn't save you, sadly" I turn my head to the side to see a tied up Ronin, wait how is that posssible? I look up and my eyes are clear now, Cryptor was standing above me, well s***. He slapped me in the face "Are you able to see now?" I groan "Don't see how slapping me would help my eyesight, but yeah I can see" he growls "Don't make stupid comments" he pulls me up and says "Now I have work to do" pulls on a rope attached to both Ronin and me, we were like dogs on leashes.

We walked through the dungeons and I tried to burned my ropes, I couldn't use my element! Ronin noticed and whispered "He put a Vengestone collar on you while you were out" Cryptor says "I can hear you, don't try to plan an escape" I now notice the collar on my neck, alright he took my sharp objects and nulled my element, we are only being held by a rope, if Ronin and I run for it in opposite directions we could have a chance, Cryptor might pull us and we could get the jump on him, wait a minute... why don't we just attack him now?! We got our legs! We can still use those! I get Ronin's attention and quickly shook my leg as we walked, he got the idea, maybe if we're lucky Cryptor will shoot the rope by mistake.

We both attacked and Cryptor ducked, then he swung us to the wall and said "What took you so long?" He pulls us towards him and kicks Ronin's face, Ronin pouts "What the heck did I do?!" Cryptor simply says "I don't like you" then Ronin joked "So you like Kai? Since you didn't ki-" the Cryptor kicks me, I groan and growl "Sorry Kai" says Ronin, then I turn to him saying "Remind me to kill you later" Ronin uses flattery "By the way, did I ever tell you that collar looks great on you? Ties the whole bound for life look" it wasn't very effective. I say "I'm kicking your b-" then we get dragged by Cryptor, I shout at him "Couldn't even let me finish a sentence?!" Cryptor says to me "I have a job to do, you wouldn't understand Smith" Ronin smirks saying "Formal names huh? What's your formal name for me?" Cryptor turned around to say "Poor excuse of a **** ***** ***** and a ***** *** ***** for *****!!! But I just call you Mercenary to be brief" we were just dragged in an awkward silence, a few minutes later Ronin says "You couldn't have joked around a little bit?" Cryptor didn't answer.

Ronin sighs "Well this isn't at all how I thought my day would go" I roll my eyes but silently agreed. An hour later through the underground maze we made it the corridor leading to the room of crystals, then I was suddenly untied by Ronin and we both attacked Cryptor, he knocked us back, I ask Ronin "How'd you get out of the ropes?!" Ronin explained "I just loosened up and shimmied out, then I found a sharp stone to cut your ropes" huh... Suddenly Cryptor tries to attack so he lunged for Ronin but jumped on him and pushed Ronin out of the way, I ended up on top of Ronin. We just awkwardly stared at each in the eye, I say "Do you-" then Ronin interrupted me by getting up and saying "I can make a dirty joke later, but right now we got an angry bucket of bolts" the three of us fought, during the battle I tried to remove my collar, it's stuck on tight!

  Clay's pov
I lay quietly on the couch, I feel useless and pathetic, is it this form or is it me? I just want to be able to trust him again, why did I ever stop trusting him in the first place? Was it paranoia or did he actually like someone else? I shouldn't be focusing on it, I should be moving on, afterall there are bigger problems than my trust issues. Monstrox has taken the King's body, the Queen is missing, Jestro attempted scuicide, Knighton is at risk for big trouble, I'm in this stone form, who knows if I may be dying, and things are going much crazier in this world, this world is so odd, apparently the embodiment of evil is here and wants to take one of the ninja as his bride.

The ninja are so calm it's irritating, every year there seems to be a new threat to Ninjago, from the stories they told me, over the years they've become numb to it, I wonder how they are mentally, I can't believe I gave Kai such a hard time with my trust issues, after all he and I are both protecters of a realm, I'm sorry Kai, I'll be better to you, I trust you when you say you have no one else, that you love me. Zane walked into the room quietly and tells me "Jestro left Ninjago, he went back home" I panic "What?! Why didn't you stop him?! It's not safe there!" Zane tells me "Cole is with him, he'll be safe with him, he was homesick and tired, so maybe just a visit home he'll feel better, wether or not he wants to return to Ninjago is his choice" I sigh and worry about Jestro, I was a horrible friend to him, a horrible person, I'm sorry, I'll make it up to you somehow.

  Kai's pov
I get swung and thrown to the wall, Cryptor pins Ronin to the wall holding him by his neck "Cryptor let him go!!" I punch Cryptor in the face, I stood there stern, Cryptor simply says as he slowly turns his head towards me "You hurt your hand didn't you?" I held in the yelp, yes I did hurt my hand, but I didn't care. I punched him again and again and again, I shout "Cryptor let him go!!!" Cryptor says "You're knuckles are starting to cut and bleed" I tried kicking him and he grabs my leg and throws me back, Ronin chocked and coughed, "At least you t-tried K-Kai!" I try to pull off the collar, break it, stop it from holding me back, I hate it! Hate not being able to help him, Cryptor asks "What are you doing?" I growl "What the heck does it look like I'm doing?!" I jump at him in hope to knock him down but he grabs my neck and held me up off the ground, I try to break free.

I kick at him and struggle, I hate feeling so weak! Cryptor snapped at me "Why are you fighting me?! Why do you try to save this low life?! This theif?! Why not just leave him here to die while you go off and grab the Elemental Quartzs?! Why bother risking your life and mission for him?! I tried to be merciful by taking what I need and keep you both prisoner but you decided to be a fool and fight me! You're pathetic for defending him, for trying to save him." I seethe and kick his face, I manage to break free, thankfully his little monolog distracted him from grabbing my neck and instead crush the collar, sure It could have also choked me just as easily but let's look on the bright side. I blast him with my fire, I knocked him back with my flame and Ronin was free from his grasp, Ronin slid down the wall gasping for air "T-Thank you Kai" I tell him "You owe me for one" he replied "Nope, owe you nothing, I don't even have a snarky comment in return" he laughed sheepishly.

I get tackled to the ground, I try to push off Cryptor, he had his hands on my neck, Ronin tried to stop him "Are you crazy?! What are you doing?!" Cryptor exlaimed "Something I should've done a long time ago! Something I should've done when I had the chance! I wasted too much time playing with him and I wasted time sparing you!" I snapped and yelled at him "Seriously?! Are you still holding a grudge after all this time?! Ok I messed up! I know what I did to you was bad and unfair to you! But just let it go!" He laughed "You think this is about that? You really are pathetic, I would never hold a grudge for such a stupid thing! I'm doing this because it's my purpose! You're nothing to me!" I shot fire at him knocking him to the wall, Cryptor rips off his burning mask and reveals his face.

Ronin came to my side, I shout at him "You can choose something else you know! I know you still hold a grudge against us, you don't have to work for the Overlord but you also don't have to join our side! You can choose something else" Cryptor flat out says "No." The he says "I have my job as the General in Overlord's army of Nindroids, I take that role seriously, getting revenge on you two would just be a bonus, just having a good fight will do as well, but you're as pathetic at the Mercenary" Ronin says "Hey..." I get really annoyed with him, he admitted he wanted to kill us over the Incident, I say "Yes yes I know I messed up, I was a crappy person but it would be a dumb reason for revenge, I'm Sorry Cryptor! But can you just let it go!? I said it before I'll say it again, I'm sorry for cheating on you!! Now can you just let us go?!"
