The Truth

  Clay's pov
Merlok and I talked about our plan to infiltrate the castle and purify the king, Kai's training with Macy and Axl, as we talked Merlok seemed distracted whenever we brought up Ruina, I ask him what's wrong "Clay I think I should tell you something I should have told you a long time ago" he looked serious and worried, suddenly the alarm sounded, someone broke into the Fortrex.

I grab my blade and ran through the Fortrex, I found some monsters grabbing Jestro and tying him, I ran to him and vanquish the evil things, out of the corner of my eye I see Ruina run off to another room, I tell Jestro to go somewhere safe and I chase after Ruina. I came to a stop and find Ruina charging at Kai with her staff pointing at his back, I don't think I can make it, I ran after her and shouted "KAI WATCH OUT!" He turned around and side stepped, Ruina missed him slightly, his sleeve was cut and some red liquid dripped to the floor.

"You again?" He asked, Ruina stood tall and asked "So you must be the beloved boyfriend of the famous blue Knight?" He nods and says "What's it to you?" She growled "Don't talk to me in such a tone, I expect you to treat me with the utmost respect" Kai asked her "Why would I treat you with any respect after the way you treated him?" She smirked and said "Well even if you stop the king you still need my blessing, I highly doubt someone like you would come close to earning it" I was confused, her blessing for what?

Kai gets in a fighting stance, holding his sword tightly, she said "I needn't waste time on you, I'll make this death quick, Clay needn't waste time on you either" He's not a waste of time, she cast a spell that shot a fire ball at him, he countered it and said "Let's take this outside where there's a less chance of people burning to death" she folds her arms "Why would I care about the people here?" He smirked "You seem to show and interest in Clay, what? Do you have a crush on him?"

At that she retched, more than I expected, she was retching so much I was getting so worried I was going to ask her if she was ok, Kai and I both looked at each other concerned and confused "Now I feel bad" said Kai. Merlok came on through the screen and asked "What's going on with her?" I scratch the back of my head "Kai said something that made her retch" I say as I stare at Ruina still retching, I see Kai was getting annoyed and he said "Can you just puke or leave already? we got lives to live! And you call me the waste of time..." Merlok asked me "What did he say?" I still stare at Ruina concerned "He asked if she had a crush on me" Merlok looked at everyone in disgust and started retching like Ruina, Kai and I both look at each other worried, Kai said to Merlok "You're in a computer!"

Jestro runs in and asks "What's going on here?" Kai and I shrug, I say to Jestro "I told you to go somewhere safe!" Jestro looked at me sheepishly saying "I thought about it and the only safe place is with you" I shrug "You have a point" I look at Kai and saw something strange and new, was this... jealousy?

  Kai's pov
I brush off the weird feeling, they're best friends, what would I expect? I was getting annoyed of the retching noise so I picked up Ruina and pushed her out the window, I walk back to the others "Hey I got rid of Ruina!" Clay smiled a little and said "Well that was awkward... Jestro may you go get Ava to help out Merlok?" He nods and runs off.

I peck Clay on the cheek, he blushed but his smile soon turned to a frown "Kai your wound!" I cover it "Hey it's ok, believe me, I've been through worse" he shook his head and dragged me to their reminiscing area. He grabbed the first aid kit while I kept trying to calm him, he sits by me and said "Kai please take off your shir- WAIT that came out wrong!" He blushed and face palmed, I snickered and said "Maybe somewhere more private" he looks up at me and said "Just roll up your sleeve Kai." I shook my head and said "Clay I told you, I'm fine, I'm not dying he-" "It wasn't a question Kai, It was an order." His eyes were focused and he was stern, I slowly roll up my sleeve at my usually submissive boyfriend's command, for some reason that felt weird.

He rubbed the disinfectant over the cut and I winced, it stung! Clay says to me still looking at the cut "I thought you said you've been through much worse Kai, I thought you could handle this." I look away blushing slightly, I don't like showing this side of me to him. I watch as he wraps the bandage around my wound, he pulled down my sleeve and stole a kiss from me, I blush "What is that I see? Are you blushing Kai?" He teased, I smirk and raised my hands in defeat "Ok you win this round, but remember that I still beat you by-" he stole a kiss from me again, I felt my face getting hotter, he winked and said "I'll catch up to you sooner than you think, I don't give up easily and I will prevail" darn you Clay! Why you gotta be so cute?!

I held his face between my hands, we stared at each other for a bit and started to move in closer for a passionate kiss, our lips only inches apart. "Ooooooooh!" We were interrupted, Clay's face was red either from blushing or from anger... probably both, we both saw, Aaron and Lance teasing us, Jestro had a nosebleed and Ava covering her face with her gamepad, Clay snapped at the two of them "Don't you two have to be checking the perimeter to see if there are still anymore monsters?!" Aaron was laughing a little, Lance said "Sorry Boorington, we just really wanted to check on you two after hearing about Kai's injury, but you seem to be taking up nurse duty perfectly, turns out you're not so boring after all" Aaron stopped laughing "Dude... anyway we're sorry for ruining the moment but we just wanted to make sure you two we playing safe" Ava looked at them confused "What?" Lance said to her "You're too young to understand" then he looked at Jestro "-And you're too innocent to know" I knew what that meant, I could see Clay knew too, He may or may not have learned a few things in Ninjago I didn't want him to learn until the time was right.

I didn't think it was possible for his blush to get redder, he put the front of his helmet down and grabbed his sword. "I think that is our cue to run, Lance" says Aaron, Lance looked at Aaron confused as Aaron gets on his sheild and zipped away, his eyes got wide when Clay started running at him with his sword screaming like a mad man, "Holy Shiii-..." he looks at Ava and Jestro "-Shoot!" He runs away as if his life depended on it.

I get up and walk after them, it's not that I think that Clay will kill them but he has the necessary strength, agility, and skills to do it, I see Clay ahead of me, he started to get slower, he fell to the wall and tried to keep moving, but then he fell to the ground "CLAY!" I shout as I ran to him. I get on my knees and picked him up, holding him in my arms, "K-Kai... please... don't look..." I ignored his plea and saw as some of his armor was turning to stone, it moved down to one of his legs "Clay..." I began to cry, what happened to him?

He looks away, I get up and carry him back, I find everyone there laughing and talking but As soon as they saw us they ran to us, Merlok says "It's gotten worse!" Worse?! So this has been going on a while back?! "What's wrong with him? Why is this happening?!" Macy looks away "There's been a few accidents when we fought the monsters" Jestro hugged Clay crying "I'm sorry my friend! I'm sorry for being weak to Monstrox!" I growl and snapped "So you did this to him?!" Jestro backed away a little, Axl defends him "Hey back off Kai, he didn't do anything" Lance defends him too "Yeah Smith, Jestro's too weak to actually do some damage towards his best friend" he looks at Jestro "No offense" Jestro looked away "Some taken" Lance pats his shoulder.

I look away holding Clay close "I'm sorry..." Aaron pats my shoulder "Hey it's ok, at least we know you do care about him" Clay tried to get out of my arms, I wouldn't let go, "This is what I was afraid would happen, Kai... I think you should leave" I shook my head and said "I'm staying here Clay!" He won't look at me "Kai this isn't your fight, you need to go, I don't want anything bad happening to you here" I held him close "No this is my fight, it was my fight ever since they did this to you" he looked at me with a half smile "Heh, you won't stop at anything for me, why did you have to be so stubborn and so cute?" I blush slightly "It's because I love you Clay" everyone started saying "Awwww" Clay's smile left "Ok I think it's obvious that we love each other at this point guys..." I kiss him and he looks away rolling his eyes, blushing and smiling softly.
