The ride to California was a long, exhausting ride, but it was also fun. Afterall, road trips with good friends are the best kind.

Kelly did most of the driving, and when I wasn't sleeping, I was staring out the window thinking about Will.

I used to think it was sweet that the sky reminded me of his eyes.

He was always there, even if we ever got separated. But now that we're not together, when I look up at the baby blue sky, he's always there.

I know I shouldn't, but a small part of me still misses him—the good parts of him. He wasn't all bad; we had plenty of good days, but it's always the bad that are harder to forget.

Kelly tried to destract me the best she could, and most times it worked. She kept things light and airy, and soon Will faded from my mind a bit.

I was only focused on the future, and all of the trouble that we could get into together this summer. Afterall, we were partners in crime now, we had to act accordingly.

The farther I got from the Univeristy, the more liberated I felt. I felt lighter, happier.

We rolled the windows down and played our music too loud simply because we're young and dumb, and it's finally summer.

I'm awoken from my slumber as the car jerks to a stop.

Groggy, I look around, checking out my surroundings.

We're parked in front of a pale, yellow house that looks big enough to hold a small army.

Baby palm trees line the sides of the driveway and a small set of stairs lead to a front porch with a cute little swing hanging from it.

A doorway made for giants is framed by gorgeous floor to ceiling windows that match the numerous other windows spread about the front of the house.

I look at Kelly in confusion, as she simply turns off the car and takes the keys out the ignition. "We're here."

I gasp, still surprised. "You live here? This place is huge!"

I had no idea Kelly's family was rich.

"C'mon," she hops out the car and throws the keys to her dad—who got here way earlier than us. He opens the trunk and begins to bring in the rest of our stuff.

We follow him up the path, Kelly walking farther in front of me, as I stop to gawk at everything I pass.

We walk into a foyer beautifully decorated in pastel beachy colors just as cheerful as the house's exterior. Natural sunlight from the many windows pour in, casting magical shadows that dance along the hardwood.

As soon as I walk in, I notice a polished wooden staircase leading to the second floor on the left and a small dining area to the right with a large picnic-style dining table.
