I stood in the middle or a large pitch black room, the only noise that could be heard were my heavy, fear-ridden breaths. I then tried to look to my left and then my right, I couldn't move. I felt the hairs on my arms stand up, my fingers tingling in panic. I then felt something slide up my bare left leg.
It didn't feel like anything human, it felt like the one thing everyone fears the most but no one really knew what it was. I shut my eyes, hoping that it was a dream, but it felt too real to be so. I felt a nail like an object scratch at my arm, drawing long lines from my wrist up. I then felt my blood drip off my arms and onto the floor, some drops sliding down my legs.
Two hands rested on my shoulders as two more placed themselves on my waist, just as the figure began to draw me in I screamed. I let out an ear piercing sound that seemed to anger the figure even more. It began to dig blade-like objects into my thighs.
I cried out in pain, struggling to stand up. I heard a deep laugh from behind my left ear sending shivers along my spine, shivers of fear. I felt the unknown thing spinning me around to face it, I shut my eyes even harder fighting the pain.
I then felt someone shaking me, yelling my name.
I took a deep breath and my eyes opened wide, only to see my room and a concerned Penny sitting beside me.
"Are you okay?" I cried out, tears started to fall from my eyes like waterfalls. I felt someone wrap their arms around me causing me to scream out and fight, the nightmare still stuck in my mind.
"Shhh Y/N, It's gone. It was just a nightmare." I began to calm down at the feeling of someone drawing circles on my back with their thumbs. I hiccuped from my tears, wiping my tears away with my hand. I pulled my head away from Penny, looking at my hands.
"Thank you." I could hear the tearful voice, breaking halfway through my sentence.
"Anything for you." Penny pulled me closer to him, still in his human form. He has been for the past two weeks that I have been with him. I brought my hands to his chest tugging at the fabric, trying to find some comfort as the memories swept my mind again causing tears to fall once more.
Penny let me cry into his should, whispering comforting words every now and then. I could still feel the nails on my arms, blades in my legs and arms on my body. The memory slowly faded as I focused on Penny's arms, hugging me sweetly. I then began to laugh, Penny looked down at me in a confused manner.
"It's just that you typically give people nightmares yet here you are comforting me after having one." I let out a laugh again, the fear draining out of my body.
"That is funny isn't it?" He let out a chuckle, throwing his head back in the process. "You know for once the fear radiating off you doesn't make me feel better, it actually hurts me."
I didn't reply but hugged him, tears standing still on my cheeks. I felt grateful that he had woken me and stayed to comfort me. My breaths finally calmed as Penny began to hum a circus-like tune in my ear. I began to feel tired and felt my eyes flutter shut, Penny seemed to notice to for he loosened his grip and laid me down.
"Good night Y/N, may your rest be filled with pleasant dreams." He began to sit up but I grabbed his arm.
"Please stay, I feel protected with you. Liked you can block the nightmares and control them. Plus I can't sit alone at the moment." He looked at me before sliding into the bed beside me.
"Sure but don't steal the sheets." I laughed and nodded but ended up yawning instead.
"Good night Penny." I closed my eyes and felt Penny enclose me in his arms.
"Night Y/N."
