Norman had gone off to the kitchen to wash the dishes, I wished to go and help him but he insisted that he would clean up. I sat now in the living room watching TV, a new addition from the movie scenes due to the time change. That being said I wondered how he was still alive and looking this young, I'll ask him later maybe.
One of Norman's apparent favorite movies was playing, it was an old one that I didn't know existed but seemed interesting. 7 Brides For 7 Bothers. In a nutshell is what the tiles said, but for real the eldest brothers picks a woman to marry on the day that they meet. He doesn't tell her about his 6 bothers who live with him for it was the time where women where housewives. The 6 brothers find loves of their own and don't know how to get them per say and basically they all learn a lesson on what love truly is after they kidnap the 6 women at the eldest's advice.
Ya that made no sense but seemed interesting as hell so here I sat watching it, did I add that there was singing, well there is. My eyes scanned the room for now the romantic table was all cleaned up and the normal lighting was on. The decorating seemed to be fitting for an antique shop, doilies, curtains and old lampshades made it seem like a room from the past. However my favorite thing would have to be the piano, dolled up with china and frilled fabric. A piece of sheet music sitting on the ledge above the perfectly clean keys.
Now as a kid I always wished to learn how to play the piano and any instrument, I had a few skills in sheet music reading and what each key was but no way would I say that I knew how to play and was an expert. That didn't stop me from standing up and looking at it up close. I admired the delicacy of the instrument, the carvings in the wood drew me in and would call out to any composer.
I brushed my fingers over the edge of the piano, it was smooth to the touch but when I hit the fabric the feeling turned to fluffy. I was scared to touch the china, not wanting to break it at all. The pieces where white with colourful décor all around. The detailing was stunning and seemed that it was handmade and had many years on it. I believed that it had been here from the time of the original movie.
"You can t-touch them if you want." I jumped a bit, well my fingers backed away from the piano at the sound of Norman's voice. I turned to see him standing tall with his hands tucked behind his back.
"Norman you startled me!" Norman walked up to me and gently took hold of the hand that was on the piano. His gentleman side came out as he kissed the back of it three times.
"I-I am incred-dibly sorry my delicate doll, I did not mean y-you any harm." I blush at his actions and words but my eyes shift back to the piano.
"That is perfectly fine Norman, no harm, no foul." Norman shakes his head and raises my hand to the fancy china, it was cool to the touch and I could tell it would be worth a lot now a days.
"I-I do wish to do something to a-apologize though, how about I play you a song?" I nod and he takes his hand off of mine but I continue to reach up and admire the china." That was my grandmother's, nearly one hundred years old."
"It is gorgeous and priceless with the history tied to it but I would love to hear you play." Norman raises his hand and I place mine in his, he gently grasps it and guides me to sit on the stool that he pulled out from under the piano. I sat and he moved to sit on my left, raising his hands up onto the keys, glancing at me before playing.
I watched in awe as his fingers danced across the keys, as the harmony rang out into the air. The hair on my arms was literally standing up as the song gave me goosebumps and shivers. I wish that could play in such a way but we can't have it all, I mean I was relatively smart as a Biomedical Engineer but Norman here hard real talent.
The song had gone on for a few minutes and I didn't want it to end ever. I had never felt as in peace as I did now, music was true medicine for the soul. It seemed like all the stress from my whole life was being washed away with this one song. I glanced at Norman's face, some of his hair had fallen onto his face but the look of concentration in his eyes was inspiring.
I couldn't help but reach up and brush his hair back, I saw him blush as I do so as I too can't help but turn slightly red. He turned to me not messing up the notes at all to smile in thanks. He looks back and plays the final notes, leaving me speechless as the music fades away and the last note drag out.
"That was incredible Norman!" Norman looks to me, sifting so that it was easier for him to look at me.
"T-Th-thank you Y/N, I've been working for years." I smile and think about my earlier question, no time better than the present to ask right.
"Norman, if you don't mind me asking how are you still alive and looking so young?"
