A few minuets later and Brahms and I were in the kitchen. He stood making tea on an old kettle on top of the stove and I on a bar stool since he refused my help. He said that it was a man's responsibility to make sure his woman was comfortable and taken care of, that didn't mean be the breadwinner but make sure she's happy.
"What's you occupation?"
"Oh I'm a Biomedical Engineer, basically I design medical equipment which is why I am able to still work while on this whole experience so if I disappear for a few hours I am working." He nods and turns to me as the tea sits.
"How amazing a lady of intelligence, of course I don't work and am living off of my parents money which is far more than I need but I only use what is necessary. I admire how devoted you are to your job, your passion it shows the type of person you are."
"Thank you. It saddens me to see woman pass on the opportunity to educate themselves and instead chose to become objects to mean in various ways. I also wanted to prove to everyone that I could become what I have wanted to be without the aid of a man in any way but that went...well..." Brahms noticed my fallout into my thoughts and didn't pursue the topic right away. He instead pored the tea into two cups, handing me one.
"Would you like to talk about it Y/N? Darling?" Brahms reaches for my hand when I don't respond, drawing my eyes to him and out of my blank stare at the table.
"I guess I should. I was in college, fourth year, almost done. I got tangled up with a man named Aaron he was successful with a family business. Things went sour and I felt like I could never love again leading to my parents doing this whole arranged marriage thing." I sighed out and grabbed the cup of tea with my free hand, blowing on it since it was too hot.
"I am sorry you went through what ever it was. I remember Greta and her issue with her ex boyfriend and if needed I could kill yours for you." I smiled up at him, noticing now that his thumb was drawing circles on the back of my hand.
"No need. That man is punished more through living than death at this point." Brahms nods and doesn't let go of my hand while taking a sip of his tea. I follow and eat a biscuit that Brahms said he made. It had a hardened cherry filling on the outside and was the perfect biscuit I'd say.
"This is amazing Brahms. Both the tea and biscuits."
"Thank you is was my mom's recipe from her grandma. Luckily she wrote it down in that cook book so if you'd like it I would love to share it with you, maybe we could bake some together another day." I could tell he was nervous, like a school boy asking out his crush.
"Of course, sound amazing. I love to bake and eat sweets so I would never say no to learning how to make some of the best cookies every." He chuckles and finishes his tea, me following him. Brahms stands and quickly washes the cups before I could speak. Soon enough he sat in front of me.
"So I guess I need to tell you the truth about certain things. So I was able to get away with not hiding away and owning this house by claiming to be my father's nephew. But I wear the mask when in the presence of people and got a new delivery boy. Now the final thins is the rules I take it you know of my past with rules."
" I do. I know that you lived with the rules set by your parents before the fire and by the school. Then how your parents continued them and passed them to Greta to follow."
"Okay so basically they don't exist to that intensity as before but I do enjoy many of the things included in it. So reading and music are a major part of my life and I would love it if you'd join in and per say follow the rules but more like get involved and be a friend."
"Or course Brahms. You let me into your house of course I will." Brahms lifted the hand that he still held to his lips, placing a kiss there.
"Thank you darling." I smiled at him as he released my hand before turning to the stove, making sure it was tuned off. I watched as he moved around the kitchen, checking things as if it was a checklist, as if he couldn't live without doing so.
"Would you like to join me in the gardens, it is beautiful at this time of year." He nods his head towards the back door. It had a window in it so I was able to see the gorgeous scenery on the other side.
"I would love to."
