Chapter 12

Things had been quite around the Normandy lately but there was a clear tension between me and Shepard these days, not to forget that Vakarian and I have drifted apart slowly and it killed me form the inside. Seeing him smiling at Shepard made me jealous at times but I would show no emotion.

I was at the cargo bay, training again but this time with a sparing partner and that was Jacob. Hand to hand combat was a skill that both of us had to sharpen at least once. " you know, you seem out of it these days." he said while trying to kick me in the stomach. I blocked him and tried punching him in the face but he blocked it skilfully. " Yeah? I did not know about that thanks for pointing that out for me Mr.Taylor." I said with a hint of sarcasm. I was constantly hitting him and he constantly blocked me. Noticing my anger at its peak, Jacob allowed me to use him as a punching bag... Why?

When Jacob saw me getting tired he kicked my legs making me fall onto the ground but into his arms as he caught me just in time. He encased me into his arms and whispered in my ear, "its going to be okay Blaze. You are strong and know if you ever fall, know that your friends and I will always catch you. So its okay to fall sometimes... thats what makes you human."

I just cried and cringed onto him... why were my emotions brewing up at this moment of my life... when I have faced so much pain and torture. Jacob pulled me closer and told me to relax, I did what I was told. When he felt me relaxing he looked towards the elevator and saw Garrus there along with Shepard walking out. Jacob knew how devastated I was when I pushed Garrus away from the act I had pulled out. He of all people knew that anyone who got to close to me would always end up in danger, so I would push people away for there safety.

When I pulled away from Jacob I saw him staring at the elevator, curious as to what he was looking I turned me attention towards the elevator, suddenly Jacob pulled me onto my feet and dragged me away from Shepard and Vakarian. I just caught of glimpse of Garrus staring at me with a unknown emotion... and I knew that emotion clearly... it was jealousy. He did not like the way Jacob was holding me but I said nothing and cringed onto Jacob more. The doors to the elevator closed, Jacob and I were alone. Suddenly I had a feeling of my breathe being pulled away from my lungs...

My vision started to get blurry, my mind raced, half panicked half determined to obey the monster that was locked inside of me. Panic took over for a moment as thoughts of an endless pain crept up into my head, "you know they hate you... you must obey Othiash. To survive you must obey me and come back to where you belong." I screamed on the top of my lungs and clinged onto Jacob for help. He slammed a button that was on the edge of the remote control, that caused the alarms to go off.. signalling that I was about to loose control again.

The pain was too much.... the memories of the people that were tortured by me was playing in my mind in a constant loop, like a broken tape recorder. I just squeezed my eyes shut and just tried blocking out the memories to have a little self control over myself.

The elevator had stopped at the crew deck and right infront to greet me was Mordin and Miranda. "What happened to her" she said while Jacob dragged me to the med bay. " I have no idea, one minute she was fine and the next she started screaming." he said while putting me on the bed. " Blaze, how do you feel? are in control or is IT in control?" she asked me while looking at me. " Miranda... I can't keep in control....!" I said while gritting my teeth. She quickly took out a syringe filled with a blue liquid and injected it into me. I started to feel drowsy, I fell unconscious onto the bed.

" Mordin, she needs to be kept under your care from now on." Miranda said while looking at Blaze's unconscious body. Mordin just nodded and hooked up a IV drip to Blaze that would ease her pain. "Once she regains consciousness, I would inform you right away." he said while typing onto a data pad that had contained stats on Blaze's health. Miranda and Jacob just looked at each other and nodded knowing that the Salarain would take care of their comrade.

When they had exited the Medbay, Miranda went to her office to update the illusive man on Blaze's condition while Jacob was headed back to his post. He did not notice Garrus entering the medbay.

When Garrus entered the medbay he was hoping to see Dr.Chakwas or Mordin on matter concerning you but when he found you unconscious on the bed he lost all his senses. He saw Mordin hooking you up to a machine that contained a liquid that he could not recognise. Mordin could sense that someone was in the room and he turned around and saw Garrus. "Garrus what are you doing here? should you not be going on a mission with Shepard?" he asked him while looking towards the data pad again. Garrus was at a lost of word, he did not know what was going on with you and when ever he tried getting answers you would push him away till the extent that you would make him think that you are a enemy. Garrus regained his composure when he saw you thrashing around and shaking violently. He rushed to you side and held your hand, you gripped on his hand tightly. " Garrus please don't leave me." was the only thing you said before your body had gone still again.

Mordin had just stared at the both of you, he knew the Vakarian had feelings for you. "Garrus if you are worried about her condition, don't be I am here to take care of her. Garrus said nothing, he just nodded and said "Mordin.... just tell me something.... what is happening to her really? why is she suffering alone and not letting me help her... why is she not letting me in?" he said to the salarian with a voice filled with sadness and anger. He was sad because you had started to distance yourself from him, anger... because he could not do anything to help you. "If you are looking for answers perhaps... its time you know the full story as to what happened to (y/n)." he said while signalling him to follow him to Miranda's office where Garrus knew he would get answers. Mordin and Garrus had entered into Miranda's office. She looked up from her computer and saw the turian and salarian, Mordin gave her the look that meant it was time to let Garrus into there little secret. She sighed and got up from her seat " you will never stop will you Garrus, alright we will tell you who or what Blaze is actually is.." she said.
