The Battle of the Five Armies is over, and the Free-Peoples have won . . . though at a terrible cost.
For his heroic feat of slaying Smaug the Terrible, the Men of Dale unanimously name him King of Dale.
Towns get repaired, lands become resettled, and the great Capital City of Dale gets rebuilt, as does Laketown. Trade resumes between Dale and Erebor -- old alliances are renewed.
As the years go by, Dale and Erebor grow in power, in stature, and in wealth.
Bard never wanted to be King, but no one else has stepped up, and none would have been fit to rule. So he sets aside his grievances and protests and steps up to become the greatest King that Dale has ever had in a VERY long time.

Author's Note: Mae Govannen, mellyn! Here's the other prompt for you. This is concerning Bard and the Dalians, and what he thinks of being king. I'm fairly certain he never wanted to be King, or even a leader, of his people, but they all wanted him, and he knows that no one else is suitable for the task, so he ends up becoming King. Aren't many rulers this way?
The picture above is from the Hobbit Raskin/Bass cartoon, since Peter Jackson's version doesn't have a King Bard -- sadly. :'(
I hope you enjoy this prompt! And thank you for giving LOTR Writing Prompts 100 views and #46 in ranking! Let's keep it up! ^_^
