The Hobbit #9: Balin's Expedition

It's been almost fifty (50) years after the Battle of the Five Armies. The bodies have been entombed, the wounded have been healed, the ruined cities of Erebor and Dale have been returned to their former glory and splendor.

However, Balin is discontented from the peace. Having spent countless years in exile as a wanderer with his fellow companions, he is unused to the growing pomp, peace, and prosperity that resulted from the reestablishment of Erebor and Dale, and a deep longing is stirred within him, and he looks to the West -- to Khazad-dûm . . . to Moria. The ancient city of the Dwarves since the Beginning.

With the consent of King Dáin, Balin, along with Flói, Óin, Ori, Frár, Lóni, and Náli, led an expedition to reclaim Khazad-dûm from the Orcs.

In short: Write in either a collective POV (the POV of multiple characters) or a personal POV (the POV of one or two characters). Or write in simple Balin's POV. Use Third Person or First Person per your preference.

What are their thoughts concerning the expedition? What was the reaction to Balin's proposition to reclaiming and recolonizing Moria? What do they expect to see or run into during the expedition and also when they arrive at Moria? What is their plan to retake Khazad-dûm?

Author's Note: Mae Govannen, Mellyn! Here's another Hobbit prompt for you. This is one of my favorite, and I love Balin. He's one of my most favorite Dwarves in Tolkien's works. I would've LOVED to sit on a rocking chair with a pipe (one that blows bubbles since I don't smoke) and chat with Balin for hours on end and listen to his stories.

I hope that you guys enjoy this prompt! And I hope that you have a great weekend! Love you guys! ^_^
