Devon's P.O.V.

When Henrey and Jake arrived at the house I heard Roger greet them and then some whispering. I didn't try to eavesdrop on them. I was putting all of my attention on Amber at the moment. Frankly, she needed it. She had been fighting off the pain for five minutes since we found her. She didn't want to let go. She didn't want to feel all of the pain in one big hit. She wouldn't be able to last much longer though.

She was on her bed. She was gripping the sheets and clenching her jaw. Holding back all of the screams I knew were probably there. She was holding my hand. I tried not to lose it. I wanted to know how this could have possibly happened. She definately did not have any wolf blood in her. How else could you become a werewolf?

" Devon, how has she been?" Someone said from behind me.

I turned around and found Henrey with Jake standing stiff in the doorway behind me. I hadn't even noticed since I was paying so much attention to Amber. " She's, uh, fighting. She refuses to stop it." I said.

" Could I have a minute with her?" He asked.

I waited for a minute or two. Amber was in so much pain and I was sure to feel it as soon as I let her go. I did it anyway. I stood up and walked out of the room. I didn't hesitate to run down the stairs and find her father. I needed to get out of here. It was hurting to think this hard and not find any answer. I couldn't leave her though. So I guess I could discuss the possibilities with her father.

Jake's P.O.V.

I watched as he walked out of the room. I noticed he was pale and his fists were clenched. He was just as worried for her as I was.

Maybe even more.

I quieted the thoughts of my wolf and tried to pay attention to what Dad was doing. My eyes kept shifting to Amber though. She was so beautiful. She was sweet, smart, and strong. She was perfect. She wasn't mine though. I had finally accepted the fact that we really were not meant to be together. She was Devon's. The boy I hated the most on this entire Earth. Now even more so.

Now, I had to focus on the present though. Amber was in pain and I had to make sure she was going to be okay. I wasn't allowed to go into the room unless my dad needed help with her. So I had to wait just in case he did. Eventually.

I was in the middle of deep thinking when I heard feet pounding up the stairs. I looked and saw Mira and Blake racing up the stairs. Mira was the first one. Worry was written all over her face. She took one look into the room and her entire face went pale. Which was odd to see considering the fact that she wasn't typically a pale person.

" How? This can't be possible. What could have happened?" Mira asked me. I just pushed her down the stairs and Blake helped me.

" We don't know. No one does. Not yet anyway." Roger said.

Everyone sat down on the couches but I saw that Devon was leaning against the wall. I sighed and rolled my eyes. Mira rolled her eyes at me. ' Baby.' She mouthed to me. I held my hands out in defense. She slapped my arm and looked to Devon.

" Hey, bad boy? Are you gonna stand there like a loner or are you going to take a seat?" Mira asked playfully. Blake didn't like it though. He glared at Devon and Devon smiled.

"  I think you are the only one who could actually hide their hate. No thanks." Devon nodded and turned the other way.

" Right." Blake said as he put his arm around Mira's shoulders. I hid my smile.

" Okay, how can you ever become a werewolf? I know my daughter has no werewolf blood in her so what could have happened?" Roger asked.

" I don't know. The only werewolves I have ever met are the ones who are werewolves because of the bloodline. I didn't know you could become a werewolf any other way." Mira spoke up. Blake sighed and tried to think of something.
