"You ready, Hun?" My dad asked as he poked his head into my room.
I smiled and nodded. I had packed my bags a couple nights ago. All I had been doing was the pile of homework I had been given from the teachers. It consisted of the todays homework and next months homework. I was halfway done already.
I grabbed my bags and we headed out the door.Just as I was about to close my car door, Jake came running up.
"Can we talk for a second?" Jake asked.
I motioned for my dad to wait, stepped out of the car, and closed the door."Yeah?"
"Can't you stay? Please?"Jake asked, his eyes were wide and filled with hope.
I smiled because of how adorable he was right now."Jake, I told you. I have plans with a friend."He just sat there and stared at his shoes."I'll see you when I get back." I hugged him.
"Fine, when you do get back, though, do you think we can go-"My dad honked the horn.
"Sorry, I have to go. See ya." I waved goodbye and got in the car.
As we drove away, I realised how excited I was to get to Washington D.C. Not to lose weight, but to see Carla again. It has been nine years since we have last seen each other.
"What did Jake want?" Dad asked.
I thought."He wanted to know if I would stay."I smiled."Then he was getting ready to say something else when you honked the horn."
"Hm. What are you and Clara going to do?"
I hadn't told him yet."I am going to help her with her job. She told her boss about me and he agreed to give me a shot while I was visiting."I didn't lie. Clara really did do that so we could make a little more money for me. Considering what I'll be doing, I'll probably need some new clothes in the end.
"What's her job?"
"She works in a designer clothing store. She gets paid a good amount. So, I'm going to be working from three to six."I said.
"She will probably go to school and I will stay home until she gets back, we head to work, and then we hang out or catch up. I guess that's the plan."I shrugged. While I was at home, I would be in the gym exercising.
"Okay. Just call if you need me for anything." He glanced at me and I sent him a reassuring smile.

The drive to Washington D.C. was three and a half hours long. Not counting our half our dinner break at a Chinese restaurant. It was seven when we got to Washington D.C. We were going to meet Dad's co-workers while we were here. As soon as they arrived they got down to business.
"Did you read the case files?" A girl in a uniform asked.
"Yes. I have dealt with many of these before."Dad said.
"They said so. Also that it can take a while depending on how many there are." A man reported.
"Since you expect there are at least ten, I should be right by saying that it can take up to a month."Dad shifted his weight.
The girl noticed me."Does she know?"
"Nope."My father shook his head."Amber, stay with someone at all times. Don't go out alone. Got it?"
I nodded."What? Are there murderers or something?" I looked at them all as they looked at each other.
"Yeah. There are. So do as I say and don't go out alone. At all if you can help it." Dad said.
