Chap. 11

Recap:

"Amber, you know you can't have two mates...don't you?" Mira walked over and knelt by me."Blake and I figured it out earlier. You can only have one person who makes you feel like you are in real love." She whispered to me.

I nodded.

"So, who is it is the only question you have to answer to. I'll be with you every step of the way. I won't care what your answer is. As long as you are sure and you are happy."She smiled and looked around the room."I can also tell you that since we are all werewolves these guys heard my every word." I smiled too. Inside, though, I wanted to kill the ability for them to hear practically everything.

"It's Devon." I whispered to myself. Devon turned his head to me and looked me in the eyes.For a moment, all I saw was his beautiful eyes and all I could smell was his intoxicating scent.

"I'm sure."

Chapter 11

As I whispered my last words I felt everyones gaze harden and Miras hand tensed as it held my shoulder. I looked up with my eyes full of tears and met gazes with Jake. His eyes showed hurt. I felt my heart tear and more tears came to my eyes. I'm sorry. I knew Jake saw it in my eyes as he turned away from me and walked out the door. I looked away so I wouldn't have to see the disgust in Blakes eyes or the dissapointment in Henreys eyes. Mira held my chin and looked at me.

"I'll talk to them all. Don't worry, everything will be fine." She rubbed my back and walked out of the room.

"How f***ing hard did you want that pan to hit me anyway?" Alex rubbed the red bump on his head and his face scrunched up in pain.

"Hard enough to knock a werewolf out, that's for sure." Michael joked. But, apparently Alex didn't find it very funny. Alex rushed toward him."Oh! S***!" Michael stumbled as he ran up the stairs. I laughed and turned back to Devon. Devon looked me in the eyes, but didn't change form. Obviously Jake and them were still around.

I hugged him and he nudged my face. Brett came up to me. "So, I'm guessing that you are now part of our family. Both of our families actually."Brett knelt down beside me and saw me stroking Devons fur."You really do love him, don't you?"

I looked at Brett and answered, letting my heart speak for itself."Yes." I said.

Brett was quiet for a moment. Then he looked at the empty doorway and looked back to me."You should probably go out there and make sure that your friend is okay with his love being mates with his enemy." Brett pat my head and stood up.

"When you put it like that it sounds so... settle."I said sarcastically.

"You aren't too bad for a goodie-goodie." He smiled and walked away.

I stood up and began walking when I felt Devon nudge my leg. Obviously he didn't want me to be alone with Jake. I sighed and continued walking with Devon at my side. When I got outside I found Henrey trying to get Jake to stop hitting a tree and Mira was sitting with Blake watching the scene. As I stepped out and onto the porch everyone looked at me. Except Jake. He continued hitting his tree.

"Um," I started but then Henrey came up to me. Devon narrowed his eyes but held back his growl."You need to talk to him. Without Devon following you around." Henrey said as he glanced at Devons wolf form at my feet.

"Sure." I said. Knowing Devon heard what Henrey had said, I walked down the steps and over to where Jake stood thrashing at the tree."Jake, I-" Before I could finish he whirled around and shouted in my face.
