In a split second, I shoved Christopher's body off my own and almost fell off of the couch. I rushed over to the glass wall where Devon was.
"Devon?"I put my hand against the glass and took a moment just to gather my thoughts. His shaggy black hair seemed longer than the last time I had seen him and it was to the point where it was covering the top half of his steel gray eyes. His usual playful smirk had been transformed to a frown. His stubble around his strong jaw line had grown slightly longer than I had ever seen it. The thing that really got to me were the dark bruises here and there on his face.
He was saying something but I couldn't hear him. I looked around before my eyes fell on a small side table. Before I could comprehend what I was doing, I was grabbing it and bringing it down on the glass.
But my actions themselves were shattered. Christopher grabbed a leg of the side table and prevented it from hitting the glass."Ah, ah, ah. I wouldn't do that if I were you."
"Trust me, I think you would if you were in my position."I growled.
"Fine, go on right ahead. But that isn't a glass wall. It's a mirror. And,"Christopher let go off the side table and it fell limp in my arms."their souls are all trapped in them. Their body is somewhere else. So if the mirrors are smashed, well then their soul would be lost without a body to rest in. You would lose them forever."
"Them?"I dropped the table and looked back to the wall of mirrors. It was true. Everyone that I had taken with me was trapped. I ran along the walls trying to see if they were all okay. When I found Jake in the corner of the room he looked at me with wide eyes and a slightly open jaw. He looked just like he did when I had seen him not too long ago.
But... what time was it? How long had we all been here? How long were they all trapped in the mirrors? Minutes, hours, days, weeks? No, I couldn't have possibly been out for weeks. That is insane. Unless, he drugged me. He wouldn't have a reason to do that, though.
Infuriated, I covered my face with my hands and fell against the wall beside Jake. How's, When's, but's, unless', and though's swam through my head as if they were creating their own hurricane of questions.
Christopher's deranged voice cut through the hurricane and it seemed to die down a little.
"They will all be set free of course-"
"You would do that?"I looked up at Christopher as he slowly made his way towards me, tantalizingly slow with his creepy grin.
"Of course not."He rolled his eyes at me and I let my head fall back against the wall."Not unless you do something for me in return."
I instantly covered up my body. I was glad that for the faux midnight meeting I had decided on my dark green t-shirt, dark blue skinny jeans, and old combat boots.
"Something a little more permanent than that, Amber."He reached into his jean pocket and pulled out the small black box that had been on the glass table when I had woken up from my state of unconsciousness."If you marry me then I will let all of your friends go."
All of the air inside of me was knocked out as if I had just been hit in the stomach by a giant wrecking ball. But, of course, I would have died had that happened. Then again, it seems like that is the only other possible option to do right now.
"So, will you?"Christopher sat there staring at me.
Everyone was staring at me.
They must be able to hear everything that we say but we can't hear them. I looked from face to face. None of them deserved this.
My eyes rested on Devon once again. He shook his head.
I gulped and looked at Christopher
"Yes." I chocked on that small three letter word that meant so much at the moment.
