2 Weeks Later
Amber's P.O.V.
I was reading a book and all of my things were packing themselves. Someone opened the door and almost got hit by one of the other books I had recently bought. I figured that if I just did relaxing things for a while, my wolf would eventually calm down. So far it was working. I hadn't made out, snuck out, or attacked anyone. So Henrey decided that it was time for me to go back home.
" Wow, Amber. You really are getting a hold of this." Dad chuckled as he closed the door. I lept up and jumped into his arms. I haven't seen him since I came to stay at Jake's house. I gripped him with all of my strength. Which must have been hurting him because he gasped. " Amber, honey. Let go." Dad said.
I laughed and let go of him. He looked at me with sorry eyes. At first I thought something was wrong, then I thought he was probably just sorry that he hadn't seen me in two weeks and thought that he had caused this whole were thing upon me. It really wasn't his fault though.
" Daddy? Are you okay?" I asked.
" Yeah. I'm fine. I just missed you, that's all. Let's hurry up. I'll meet you downstairs." He messed up my hair and left the room. I had been packing pretty slow so I decided to speed it up. I was running all over the room and was finished packing when someone knocked on my door. I answered it. " Hey, Jake."
" Amber. Can we just forget about everything that has happened between us? Permanently." He asked. Wow. He got right to the point.
" Sure. It was nice when it was." I smiled and after a quick decision, I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. He blushed slightly and I bit my lip. " So, would you mind helping me carry these down to your living room?" I gestured to all of the bags of clothes.
" What about your little 'ability'?" He smiled.
" I wouldn't want to be a complete show-off, now would I?" I punched him in the arm playfully and he bent down to grab a couple bags. We were making our way down the stairs when I heard my dad talking to Henrey. I stopped and stayed as quiet as possible.
" When are you going to tell her?"
" I don't know."
" Tell me what?" I asked. I dropped the bags onto the floor and looked at them both. They looked away. Even Jake seemed uncomfortable. I couldn't take it any longer. " What do you have to tell me? Is everything alright?" I started asking all sorts of questions. " Is someone hurt?"
" Amber," Dad put his hands on my shoulders and looked me in the eyes." I'll tell you when we get home. For now, let's just calm down and get your things into the car. I sighed and all my bags flew out the door and landed right next to the car.
" I need a glass of water first." I mumbled as I walked into the kitchen. I drank the water and tried to think about what possibly could have happened within two weeks. Was that why some of my friends had been acting weird around me? Something had happened and the only way Dad was going to tell me was if I went home with him and didn't bring it up until that's where we were.
I put the glass away and didn't even storp to say good bye to either Jake nor Henrey. I just smiled and waved as I ran out to the car. I felt someones eyes on me but I decided to ignore the feeling. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up and all of my muscles in me body tensed. I knew someone was watching me. Now would be as good a time as ever to kidnap me so why not now?
Dad slowly made his way to the car but he must not have felt the odd sensation of having someone watching him. I didn't say anything about it because I knew he would probably go on a man hunt. So I just kept quiet the entire way home.
I regretted it.
My father sat me down on the couch and started pacing back and forth. " There was a missing persons reported a week or so ago. The boy had been missing for a couple days but the friends and family had thought it normal." He started. Nervousness gnawed at my insides.
" So? Do I know him?" I tried to seem like I wasn't scared. In reality, I was about to explode with all of the suspense.
" It was Devon."
My heart stopped.
Short chapter! Sorry for the long writers block! Dunh dunh duhhh. What will happen?!
