Amber's P.O.V.
As we all rode home together, I leaned on Jake. He was warm. I wasn't as tired as they both thought I was. I felt perfectly fine. Especially after all of the recent events. So I just leaned on him and closed my eyes. Then a romantic song came on and one part of me wanted to curl up close to Jake and the other part wanted to find Devon. My fingers found Jake's hand and I held hands with him. At first he was tense, but then he seemed to calm down a bit.
" We're here." Henrey said. I could hear the exhaustion in his voice and at the moment it didn't really matter to me. I just sat up and opened the door. Jake blindly followed and it wasn't until he got out of the car and saw his dad look at us oddly, that he let go of my hand. I glanced at him and decided not to say anything. Henrey would kill me if he found out what I was planning to do.
" I got it." Jake opened the trunk and my eyes couldn't help but scan him. He was wearing a tight white t-shirt and it showed all of his muscles. I was still staring when someone behind me cleared my voice. I just rolled my eyes and went over, right next to Jake, and grabbed my things. " No, I've got it. You just go inside and rest. You'll be needing it."
Jake's eyes met mine and I saw a small gasp escape from his lips. It was working.
I smirked and walked over to the door. Since it was unlocked, I walked right in and by habit I went into the kitchen to find something to drink. I grabbed a glass and filled it with water. I was taking a sip of it when I heard someone trying to open the door. I used my psychic abilities to open the door. I had them completely under control. I could do it without even thinking about it at times. Now that I was also a were, maybe they were even stronger?
Henrey and Jake came in and set all of the bags on the floor next to the door. " I could have gotten them." I shrugged." You guys are just making this harder for yourself."
" Us guys have our manliness to protect." Henrey joked.
I didn't find it all that funny. Today I was focused on one thing. That was his son. Speaking of him, I handed him my glass of water. What I hadn't noticed was that there was a small lip stick stain on the edge of the glass. I guess that worked out better than I had planned.
" Thanks." He smiled weakly as he sipped from the other side of the glass. Henrey didn't seem to notice. So I just leaned in and smiled at Jake. I stuck my tongue out and crossed my eyes. Then I tugged on my cheeks and made a grumpy face. The entire time Jake had an amused expression on his face.
" Amber," Henrey asked." What are you doing?"
" Just messing around with your son." I shrugged and took my glass of water back. Then I almost choked on my words. " Just making some faces, that's all." I chuckled at myself and Jake blushed.
" Right." Henrey didn't seem to like how I was acting so far. Boy, was this going to be a long week or what?
I was interrupted in the middle of my thoughts. I heard walking. Someone was coming. Their voice sounded familiar. Seraphina! I ran to the door and was getting ready to open it when someones arm flew out to grab me. My hand stopped them just before they could touch me. Henrey was stunned by this. I quickly let go of the knob and his wrist. There were red marks.
" What are you doing?"
" Seraphina is coming. I just heard her. She is right out there. I just want to go talk to her." I crossed my arms.
" After that? No. There isn't even anyone out there. Your hearing is just enhanced. You will be hearing things from very far away. Get used to it. From where this is going, you just might be in your room the entire time you're here." Henrey argued.
