I couldn't breathe. Devon was missing. Was he okay? Was he dead? Was he hurt? The number of horrible scenarios ran through my head and it scared me too much to even think about it anymore.

" I need to go to bed." Was all I said. I tried to stand up but my hands were shaking from worry and fear. I tried to occupy them by making them do something but it seemed like no matter what they do it just wouldn't come to an end. I started up our staircase and half way up I realized my dad was trying to say something. Was saying something, actually. I hadn't even realized. My heart beat was loud and it echoed through my entire body. I didn't bother to listen to him. I just went upstairs and crashed onto my bed.

For a moment there was pure silence and it seemed like everything was going to be okay. But then it all came crashing down on me that I might never see him again. Someone took him and it was all my fault. Why did any of this ever have to happen? My life was never going to be easy and I knew that getting him back wasn't going to be easy either. So if I wanted to see him, I would have to give myself up to the likeliest person who took him. Which was the person who was after me.

What am I thinking?

I can't just run outside and scream so that they will kidnap me. I'm letting revenge get the best of me.

Right now all I need to do is lay down and try not to think about it. Pretend that tomorrow is just another day where all I am going to do is sit at home and eat ice cream.

Yeah, right. I wish it could be that easy.

I cuddled with one of my oldest teddy bears and wrapped myself up in my blanket. The jacket Devon had given me was far away. I didn't want any aching anymore. I just wanted to go to sleep.

Thankfully my wish was someones command and seconds later I fell asleep peacefully. I didn't have to think of anything going on in the world at the moment. If only I could sleep forever... but at some point in time my dreaming was interrupted by vicious nightmares.

Everything was on fire. I walked into a burning building and saw a small box. I bent down and opened it up. It was a ruby red ring. A man appeared and slipped it onto my ring finger. Fear swept over me and I frantically tried to pull it off but it was to no avail. I was trapped. The walls were closing in and I heard screaming.

I ran through the building and stopped when I couldn't cross to the other side of the room. There was a gigantic trench below me and I knew there was no point in trying. On the other side of the room were all of my friends. Mira, Jake, Blake, Devon, and a woman. Other kids I knew from highschool were chained onto the walls beside them but I could place names. My eyes were locked with the womans'.

She was my mom. Her words mouthed something. " I love-" but before she could finish a giant burning beam fell down on everyone and embers flew everywhere. I screamed.

I woke up in a cold sweat and my entire body was twisted in the bed sheets. Moon light filtered through my window and cold air sweeped in. I untangled myself and got out of bed to close the window. As I walked back to my bed I saw my teddy bear lying on the ground near my door. I grabbed him and went back to bed. My night terrors were slowly fading away and I was forgetting everything. My eyelids drooped but my stomach interrupted the sleepiness. I was starving. I sighed and got out of bed to get some food.

I decsended the stairs slowly and padded into the kitchen. With my teddy bear wrapped in my arms I rummaged through all of the cupboards. Eventually, after a long inner war, I decided on making hot chocolate. I plopped several marshmellows in and started to sip at the perfect chocolaty beverage. I was interrupted when I heard a swift sweeping noise from the other side of the room. I walked into the hallway and found a little card on the floor. It must have been slipped in from under the door, I thought.
