Chapter 10 : Halo

A few days passed after Skypaw had over heard the conversation and she was dreading the arrival of these rogue cats. She saw Flamepaw and Smokeclaw conversing and she felt her blood boil. That ragged mangy fleabag didn't deserve that title, Reedtail or Bluewhisker does. She hissed some rude insults under her breath and stalked away. Her fury lead her into the forest and she looked up. Her eyes widened. She was lost in the Windclan territory. She scented a patrol and whimpered, scurrying to safety.

She saw a small group of five cats. The first one was a large dusty brown tabby who had deep copper eyes. She knew his name was Barleysnap as he was the deputy. His stern gaze swept her hiding place. The cat by his side to the left was a small white she with icy sea green eyes. There was a small tom by his side. The little tom was black with a white circle on his head. The forth cat was a small white she with black paws and tail tip called Snowsweep. She was the leaders sister. The last cat was a large tom with grey tabby fur and yellow eyes. This was Darkpelt.

"Do you scent Thunderclan on our territory?" Barleysnap boomed, glaring once again at her hiding spot.

"Yeah" Snowsweep hissed, stalking over to the border and inspecting.

" Icepaw, go look with your mentor" Darkpelt mewed and the white she scampered off.

" Halopaw, Darkpelt, come with me" he mewed.

The small black tom with a white circle and the grey tabby followed. They went right past her hiding place but Halopaw froze and looked around. He stared right into her eyes and she felt ice run down her spine. He looked at the tomcats searching the crept in by her.

"Name and business" Halopaw mewed.

"S-Skypaw of Thunderclan and.. well I ran off because my father is plotting to kill me and the leader. I heard him talking to some rogues. There are more of them by the sound of it" Skypaw mewed, spilling the mice.

"Okay, come out and tell Barleysnap, he won't bite. " Halopaw said and stepped out.

Barleysnap and Darkpelt stalked over. She cautiously stepped out and saw Halopaw whispering in Barleysnap's ear.

". Skypaw...... Plotting.... Kill... Rogues..." Halopaw mewed but Skypaw only heard snipits.

" I see, come talk to Fawnstar, Skypaw" He mewed and called back Snowsweep and Icepaw.

The she cats shot her hostile glares the whole way back and she felt uncomfortable. The warmth of Halopaw's pelt brushing against hers gave her a little sense of calm and she didn't glare but simply ignored the.

Fawnstar sat on the rocks in the camp and stared out at the cats in her clan. Skypaw gulped as cats all turned to gaze curiously at her. The light brown she jumped down and glared, eyes narrowed.

"Who is this Barleysnap." The petite leader snapped.

"Skypaw of Thunderclan" Halopaw perked up and everyone shot him an annoyed glare.

"I see. Why are you here?" She hissed at Skypaw.

Skypaw blurted out her story and the leader blinked. Everyone listened intently to the shecats words, hanging on to every syllable.

"I see, you may come here whenever this happens, Windclan welcome you with open arms." Fawnstar mewed and nodded.

"I'll take her back to the border" Icepaw and Halopaw mewed in unison.

"Bye bye Skypaw" Halopaw mewed and as Skypaw turned she saw a beautiful sight.

Halopaw was illuminated by warm rays of sunlight that bathed his black fur and made him look celestial, angelic. She understood why he was called, 'Halopaw' at that moment and stopped herself from swooning.

"Bye Halopaw" she mewed then turned to Icepaw. "Bye Icepaw"

The white she scoffed and turned her back.

With a grin, Skypaw padded back home. Maybe it would be good, Windclan accepted her and welcomed her anytime now, she had nothing to fear from the rogues...........
