I couldn't sleep. My mind was racing with different possibilities. What was I going to do to get out if this? I wished Bre and Jake were here so I could tell someone about this. It was eating at me and it just wasn't fair.It was around eight in the morning when everyone came shuffling in. I continued to look at the ceiling as many things circled my mind. I didn't want to talk to anyone. Not after what Rider told me last night.
"Sage,"
My body went stiff at hearing Shayne's voice. I wanted to run to him and throw myself in his arms. My wolf was just itching to get her arms around him. We both missed him.
"That's definitely her," Rider said.
"There you have it." I recognized Eric's voice and there was an edge to it. I glanced at the group and then turned my attention elsewhere.
"She's the one that killed your sister." Eric continued speaking.
"And you're sure about this?" Shayne asked.
There was doubt in his voice and I was sure he was hoping for Eric to say this was all a misunderstanding.
"Positive." Eric said.
I caught the smug look Rider was giving me. I narrowed my eyes and slowly stood up from the bed. I heard Shayne let out a growl and was yelling at everyone to leave. I met his eyes and they roamed my body. I was aware that I didn't have much to cover up. I was wearing a tank and shorts.
Eric and rider didn't make a move to leave and their Beta's stayed as well. The guards that were with them scurried away leaving Shayne with Alex, Chase and Sam. All three looked down at the ground and backed away.
"I didn't kill her." I kept my voice steady.
I was thankful that my voice came out normal. I really felt like screaming and crying. I was tired of the accusations but I had to play this safe. Who would believe me if I straight out said I didn't kill them? Rider came to see me last night in secrecy so no one knew we had already spoken.
"I saw you with my own two eyes." Eric growled.
I continued to step closer as I kept my eyes on him. I was aware that Shayne was looking at me angrily. His eyes kept roaming my body and it was slightly making me uncomfortable. He was practically eye raping me in the open and Rider didn't hide it either.
"You had a connection to Ellie." I said.
"Don't talk about her like you knew her!" Eric spat.
I could see Shayne was shaking now and he let out a growl as well. I wondered if he did it because he agreed with Eric, or if he did it because his wolf didn't like Eric yelling at me. I was trying to reach out to Shayne through our mind link but he wasn't allowing me an entrance. He was completely blocking me out.
"Tell me something, Alpha," I said. "did you feel her die? When I stood over her did you feel anything?"
Eric looked at me confused. He had a connection with Ellie and he should have been able to feel the exact moment she died. If I didn't kill her right that moment he should have felt that. That was a small hope I was holding on to right now.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Eric asked.
"Enough of this." Rider said. "You aren't possibly going to actually listen to her, are you? She's nothing but a-"
"Watch your mouth." Shayne growled.
My lips twitched up into a smile seeing Shayne possessive. He wasn't going to allow anyone to hurt me no matter how angry he was with me.
