"Race. Race wake up sleepy pants." Spot said as he gently shook his shoulder, "Five more minutes..." Race said into his pillow,
"Race, it's five in the mornin'" Spot said trying to drag Race out of bed,
"Spot, I's is twice ya size." Race said sitting up, but still not standing as Spot kept pulling on his arm,
"I's can dream Higgins, and ya still need to go to Mid Town." Spot let go of Race's arm, and let him stand up,
"Alright fine, thanks for da sleepover." Race said as he began to walk out of the room,
"I'll come with." Spot yelled
"Sure." Race said as he tried to hide his goofy smile from view.
The two began to walk out of the lodging house and towards the bridge when they saw Jack, Les, and Davey running towards them, "Thy can't know you're here," Spot started to look around for a place to hide Race when his eyes set on a pile of boxes, "Go hide behind dos over there." Race nodded and ran behind the pile, out of view,
"Spot! Spot." Jack yelled out of breath, "Please, join the Manhattan Newsies and join the strike."
"Ha, yous Manhattan Boys are brave, just comin over here pleadin' to join a hopeless strike. I ain't puttin' my boys in danger. Goodbye." Spot said as he snapped his fingers, "Boys escort these boys back to Manhattan." The three boys turned and walked away, back to Manhattan with some Brooklyn boys behind them.
"It's free to come out Higgins." Spot yelled,
"Thanks." Race said as he jumped out from behind the crates,
"Did ya hear anythin'?" Spot Dad furrowing his brow,
"Nah. Them crates are thick." Race said smirking.
"Alright. Let's head over to Mid Town." Spot said as he began to walk out of the alley,
"You comin'?" Spot asked turning around,
"Yeah." Race said running towards him.
The two boys made it to the corner near the Brooklyn Bridge, however their paths were cut off by three Brooklyn boys. Two of them almost looked like the Delancys of Brooklyn, mean, tough, and they looked strong. The other boy looked much older than Spot, almost 20, "Hey Spotty how's things without me?" The oldest one asked,
"Things are goin' great, now scuse' me." Spot replied grabbing Race's wrist as he tried to pull the boy through the three others, "Awww, leaving so soon? The party was just getting started." All three boys cracked their knuckles in unison, "Race go." Spot said without breaking eye contact with the oldest boy, "Spot you're gonna get killed!" Race protested, "And you will too if ya don't go." Spot replied.
Race looked at him with pleading eyes, he knew that no one could change the King of Brooklyn's decision, even him. So, he ran around the corner and hid behind the wall. He wouldn't leave one of the only people that he cared for to die.
"Now little man." The oldest boy said, "Learn what happens when you take over my turf." He pinned Spot against the wall. This was gonna be a long, long attack.
Sorry that this one was almost like filler! The next one will be more action packed. Thanks for reading!
