When my birthday came, Jia visited me early in my condo. From there, we planned to go to my parents house to have a simple, small celebration.
"Happy birthday!" she greeted me excitedly when I opened the door.
She gave me a kiss on the cheek before hugging me.
"Thank you," I said before placing a kiss at the top of her head and hugging her back.
"Regalo ko?" I asked afterwards.
"Me. My presence is your gift."
"Oh, my God! So amazing! Best gift ever!" I said with exaggeration and sarcasm after she used my line on her birthday on me. "Now, where's my real gift?"
She made a face at me and rolled her eyes before pulling out and envelope from her sling bag and giving it to me.
I looked at it with a frown.
"This better not be a gift card, Melissa, or I swear to God, our friendship will be over."
She chuckled and tried to take back the envelope.
"Melissa!" I scolded as I hurriedly opened the gift.
Of course, I really wouldn't end my friendship with Jia but I sure as hell would make her pay for taking the easy way out and getting me a GC for a gift.
My eyes widened when I saw her gift.
"OH, MY GOD, JIA! THANK YOU!"
No exaggeration.
I hugged her really tight before looking at the tickets to Legoland Malaysia that she gave me. I couldn't help but smile widely.
"You're going with me, right?" I asked. She did give me two tickets after all.
"You can take anyone-"
"Then, you're going with me!" I said excitedly and hugged her again. I kissed her on her temple. "Seriously, thank you!"
She hugged me back and we stayed like that as we talked.
"I'm glad you like it, you big kid."
I grinned. "I love it."
I love Legos and have always wanted to go to Legoland but no one wanted to go with me. They all lost the kid in them. So I'm really happy Jia's willing to go with me.
"When do we leave?" I asked.
"Whenever you want to."
"Let's go today!"
She laughed and moved back.
"Baliw. We need to prepare for this!"
I pouted but Jia only shook her head at me.
"Let's plan it today. We'll leave next week if you want."
I beamed and nodded like a child. The inner kid in me was just too happy.
On my birthday, I celebrated it simply with my family and Jia. And we planned our trip. That was it but it was one of the best birthdays I've had.
-
Jia was leaning her head on my shoulder and I leaned mine on hers that my cheek laid on top of her head.
"Best birthday," I said with a wide grin as I remembered our trip.
We spent three days in Malaysia. I had so much fun. Way too much, I think. And Jia, Jia was really supportive and was like my personal photographer. She also tried to have as much fun as she could. I loved how she showed interest in everything there like I did. It really was the best trip.
