I excitedly rang the doorbell. Why? Nothing. I'm just excited. I'm always excited to see Jia.

It was Mamu who opened the door for me.

"Good afternoon, Mamu," I greeted as I kissed her on the cheek.

"Good afternoon, Bea. Himala at hapon ka na."

I smiled sheepishly.

"Naggrocery pa kasi ako, Mamu, eh. Kami po kasi ni Jia magdadala ng chips for later."

Mamu nodded in understanding.

"I saw sapin-sapin po in the grocery so I bought some for you and Papu po. Favorite niyo po 'yan diba?" I asked while raising my hand holding the small bilao of sapin sapin.

"Ay nako ka talagang bata ka, nag-abala ka pa. Pero salamat, Bea, matutuwa na naman nito si Papu mo at Jobok."

I grinned and we went to the kitchen to put the sapin-sapin down.

"Si Jia po pala, Mamu?"

"Nasa kwarto niya. Kanina ka pa nga ata hinihintay, eh. Umakyat ka na doon."

I said my thanks and went rushing up the stairs to Jia's bedroom. I knocked but she didn't answer so I opened the door to see her sleeping on her bed.

I approached her slowly and leaned down to kiss her on the lips softly then firmly.

A stinging pain on my cheek followed after, as expected.

"Bei! Ano ba? Nasampal na naman tuloy kita!" she said worriedly as she sat up and inspected my cheek which would be red by now for sure.

"Worth it," I said with a chuckle.

She rolled her eyes.

"Pwede mo naman kasi akong halikan ng gising ako," she said before giving me a kiss on the lips that sent electricity throughout my body. "See? Di ka pa nasasaktan."

I grinned.

"I like to check if your defenses are working pa rin so that I know no one can take advantage of you."

Yes, Jia slaps people who kiss her on her sleep. Well, I'm the only one who does that anyway.

Jia rolled her eyes again. "Ewan ko sayo. Ang kulit mo."

She then pinched me on both my cheeks.

"Ow! Ow! Hon, that hurt!" I said with a pout as I rubbed my cheeks.

Jia smiled, her eyes almost disappearing, before kissing me on both cheeks then on my lips again.

"Mabuti pa mag-ayos na ako para makaalis na tayo."

I was smiling like a fool after that kiss so I just nodded as she went inside the bathroom.

I roamed my eyes in her room and saw a beautifully arranged bouquet of flowers on her study table.

It made my eyebrows raise. Who the hell sent my girlfriend flowers a few days after Valentine's?

I searched for the card and at the same moment that I looked at the name on the card, the same name appeared on Jia's phone that started to ring.

Miguel.

It was a like a bucket of cold water was poured on me and I stood still, clenching my jaw.

Why does it have to be Miguel?

"Hon-"

Jia stopped when she saw me holding the card.
