[Pic is Damon]

My classes were boring like always so when I finally finished them, I went to a diner to treat myself to a late lunch. The closest one to campus was always packed with werewolves of multiple neighboring packs.

There were three different packs in this area. The packs members rarely fought each other because the alphas were fine with sharing this town.

Walking in I got a few stares, some of the guys were checking me out, which made me uncomfortable, but I brushed it off and found myself a seat. The girl from this morning was also here, wearing a waitress uniform and she walked over to me.

"Hey, I never asked, what's your name? How is your body feeling? I know for sure from my experience, I at least have a few red marks after having someone throw at me. I can only imagine the bruises showing up." She frowned at me and I just smiled in turn.

"My name is sage and it's fine, I swear. I can take a few hits...and throws...and bodies..." I chewed the inside of my lip knowing how awkward I sounded.

She just chuckled. "My name is Nora, I'm in alpha Damon's pack. I wanted to apologize for the way Damon and Brett both acted today. Brett was just happy because he found his mate, so he was showing off and Damon...well...Damon's mate rejected him." I frowned at hearing that.

Werewolves have mates. Someone who is made for them and will love them unconditionally, but some are rejected and it can mentally tear a wolf apart.

"Why did she reject him?" Nora shrugged and sighed.

"She's a slut, probably not ready to grow up and stop fucking other wolves." Ouch. "Damon isn't taking it very well. If he is lucky, he will find a different girl that the moon goddess assigns him for a second chance."

I nodded and Nora sighed. "Sorry Sage, what would you like for lunch?"

Her smile was bright, but I could still see worry in her eyes. "Just a poutine please, and maybe a root beer." She nodded, writing it down.

Throughout my lunch Nora talked to me as much as she could while working. She told me that she found her mate and how happy she was to have him. She told me different facts helping me to understand their kind more.

"Okay, well I should go..." I mumbled after a while, standing up.

"Sure thing." She went to reach for my plate before stopping and grabbing her pen to write something down in her note pad. She ripped off the piece of paper and handed it to me. "Text me whenever, I would love to hang out with you more. You're so cool and chill."

My face tingled with heat as she said it and I looked down shyly. "Sure, I'll text you when I get home."

She nodded and waved me off as she went to help other customers. I walked outside feeling the cold nip at my skin again. I hated the cold, it made it hard for me to do anything, especially in the mornings.

I noticed a lot of werewolves out around this time on the walk home. They must love the cold. That, or it might be the full moon tonight.

I frowned. The only thing on my mind right now was Damon. His wolf will be bursting to get out and willing to do anything just to see his mate one more time. If his mate was with someone else, his wolf would know and possibly even kill the guy.
