Scores to Settle

Star was running down the hallways of the carrier, thinking over what had happened. "Why am I thinking so much about Peter?" She thought as she made a left turn. "I haven't felt this way since Tom! Could I be?" She shook her head. "Focus Star! All that matters is Ludo hurt him and I got to bring him- whoa!"

Suddenly, the Helicarrier started shaking and red alarms went off. "Attention all agents! We have an intruder attacking the bridge. This is not a drill! I repeat, this is not a drill!" the intercom commanded. 

The Green Goblin had blown a hole through the windows and was effortlessly taking out trained S.H.I.E.L.D agents. "Boring." he yawned. When an agent shot him in the back, the monster smirked then proceeded to back hand him. "Bring me Star Butterfly."

"I'm right here Ludo." the princess called. She stood across the room glaring at him. 

"Ah. There you are." He held his arms out to the side. "Like the change? I got it just for you."

"Sorry pal. Still look like a loser to me." she taunted. In a flash of purple, Star was in her Rainbow Witch attire. 

Director Fury ran up beside her. "You're Green Goblin I take it? You're under arrest for not only threatening the peace, but also thinking you can just waltz in on the most secure place on the planet." he said as he pulled out a pistol. "Now get off my ship!" 

Goblin shook his head. "I'm afraid I can't do that until I have the wand." He took out a bomb and tossed it at the two. 

The super spy shot the projectile, causing it to explode between the three of them. The monster mounted his glider and charged. 

"Dagger Crystal Heart Attack!" Rainbow said, and the namesake projectiles were shot at Goblin.

Ludo raised his left arm and took them like they were nothing as he continued forward. 

"Shooting Star Explosion!"

Stars were fired at Goblin, and all blew up in a golden explosion on contact. In a moment, he flew through and rammed Nick, sending the agent into a wall and out of the fight. 

"Director Fury!" Star called in worry. "You'll pay for that one Ludo." she threatened as she prepared her scepter. 

"I'd like to see you try." the monster boasted. He then punched Star, sending her rolling alone the floor. "I'm INVINCIBLE!"

Rainbow Witch got up and pulled a mace out. She roared and charged at him, successfully hitting his face with a swing. 

Goblin stumbled a bit and Star took the moment for another strike. She hit him in the stomach, and aimed a third one at his chin, but Ludo caught it. He threw the weapon aside then picked his foe up by the waist. Star struggled to get free of his grasp. 

"Hand over the wand so I don't have to destroy you." Goblin demanded. 

The warrior princess grunted and struggled some more. "Not gonna happen."

"Oh it will." Ludo said as he prepared to slam her to the ground. 

"Hey! Are you two playing nice in there?" a voice called. Then a red boot flew in and kicked the side of Goblin's face. Ludo dropped Star and fell back as Spider-Man touched ground. 

Rainbow looked up to see her partner still willing to fight despite his injuries. "Spidey? I told you to stay and rest up."

The arachnid hero looked back. "Oh come on. Did you really think I would miss this?" 

Green Goblin spit to the side. "Haven't I already defeated you?" he growled. Spider-Man glared back and shrugged. "What can I say. I just don't seem to really know the word quit."

"And I told you what would happen if you got in my way again." Goblin said. Peter's spider sense went off as Goblin's glider approached behind him, but due to previous injuries, he couldn't react fast enough to dodge it. It rammed him into the wall before moving back to Goblin. 

Rainbow summoned a rainbow colored fist out of her scepter and punched her old foe into the air. The glider caught him and flew towards the heroine. She crouched while rearing her fist back. "Careful." she thought as Goblin approached. "Careful." He was a few feet away. "Now!"

She punched Ludo off the glider while ducking underneath. The monster crashed into computers near the window. He weakly stood. "Not... done yet!" he declared. Suddenly his body began to glow purple and Star's scepter glowed red. "No, no no no, No!" Ludo cried as he returned back to normal. 

Peter got himself up and limped beside Star. "Wait. It's not permanent?" he asked. 

Rainbow Witch shrugged. "Beats me." Then she pointed her scepter to Ludo. "Where did you get that power from?" she angrily asked. 

Ludo laughed a little as he stood up. "Can't say. But do know he's a generous fellow who wants the power of your wand just as much as I do."

"What do you mean by tha-" she asked. Spider sense warned her partner of danger. "Get down!" Spider-Man yelled as he pushed Star away from the goblin glider. 

Ludo mounted his transportation. "One day, I will get that wand Star!" he declared before making his exit. 

Peter lifted his left arm and fired webbing to catch him, but was too slow. The monster escaped through the hole he entered in before the webbing covered it up. 

"Well there goes that." Spider-Man groaned before turning to his partner. "You doing okay Star?"

Star glared daggers at him. "Why did you get out of bed? I told you I had him!" she yelled. 

Spidey put his hands up defensively. "Whoa, hey! Looks like you guys weren't handling it much better."

"But what if you got hurt worse huh?" she said. "I wanted to protect you by handling it the same way you do with me." she said. 

Peter took off his mask and looked at the floor. He sighed. "You're right Star. I should have thought this through a little more. And I should start to learn to believe you can do these things without me more. I'm sorry."

Star let up and smiled warmly. "Oh it's alright web for brains." She held out her arms. "Hugs?"

The teen looked back and smiled. "Yeah. Hugs." he accepted and the two hugged. 

When Peter broke off, he studied the damage done to the bridge. "Nicky's not going to be happy about this."

The alien looked as well. "Ah it's just a few scratches. How much can it be?" she asked. As if right on cue, a monitor fell to the ground
