Peter is waiting patiently outside the secretary of attendance's office for Star to get her schedule. The moment had finally come when Star walked out.
"Oh, Star." Peter said standing up from the chair he was in. "What do you have?" he asked, taking a peek at the paper. "Huh. You have Home Ed with me second period and gym sixth."
"We have two classes together?! Sweet!" she said while pumping her arms. "Heheh. Yeah. We should head to class though. Ten minutes until the bell." Peter added. The two then left the office talking as they walked through the hall. Well, Star skipped and Pete walked.
Suddenly Peter bumped into someone. "Oooof. Sorry about that." he said while scratching his head. "Yeah you will be sorry Parker." the boy said as he turned around to face Peter. It was a face Pete knew all too well. "Oh. Hello Flash." he grumbled as he was lifted by the larger kid. "You ran into me. You know what that mean dontcha? Locker knocker time!"Peter just braced himself to be shoved into yet another locker, when a voice grabbed both boys' attention.
"Hey! Put him down!" Star demanded as she glared up at the bully. Flash looked at the much smaller girl and blinked obliviously. He then smirked at a late realization. "Oh hey. You're the new girl. Why are you hanging out with a loser like Parker?" he said while alternating his gaze between Peter and Star. "If you ask me, I'd say you're way out of his league."
Star's glare softened as she tilted her head, looking between the two boys curiously. "I may not know what a league is..." she coolly stated as she looked into Peter's eyes and noticed the crowd gathering around them. She focused back on the football star with a mischievous look in her eyes. "But I do know that I like hanging out with Peter just fine. So..." All anyone saw for a quick three seconds was a bright light engulfing the area. When everyone got their vision back, they were treated with Flash Thompson's jeans fallen to his ankles, revealing his red and blue Spider-Man underwear. Kids in the area started laughing at Flash's expense, and Star stood with a brow raised and snickering.
Flash dropped Peter to the floor with a thud and scrambled to grab his pants. He turned and sprinted down the hall while simultaneously trying to pull his pants back up. "This isn't the end of this Parker!" he hissed as he turned into a different hallway.
Peter sat on the ground flabbergasted at what just took place when Star tapped on his shoulder and held out her hand. He took it and she pulled him to his feet. Pete stared at her a moment more. "Wow. Uh. Thanks Star."
The princess shrugged and pulled her wand from behind her back. "No problem. Who was he anyways?"
Pete let out a low sigh before looking towards the ceiling. "Flash Thompson. He's bullied me like that since the first grade." he said, followed by a forced chuckle. "Back when I was nerdy, wimpy Peter Parker."
Star pondered for a moment. "Bully huh. No wonder he seems like a turd waffle." she said. Peter accidentally snorted in response. "A turd waffle?" he asked. "My friend Pony Head would have called him that." she informed him. Her eyes widened as a thought crossed her mind. "Hey, why haven't you done anything about it? Like use your thing."
"M-my thing?" Peter stammered. "Yeah!" she said before getting close to whisper. "The spider power and stuff."
Peter let out a sigh of relief before turning to face his roommate. "Just because I have the ability to stand up to Flash in strength doesn't mean I should. Not only to avoid a possible slip up of my secret life, but because..." he paused to collect himself while Star eyed him curiously. "A good man once told me that with great power must come great responsibility. Using my gifts selfishly can lead to dangerous situations or horrible consequences. That's why I am who I am today. And I think that's why your parents sent you here to train."
Star frowned as she took in it all, especially the last few parts. "With great power comes great responsibility? What kind of responsibility? And what does he mean by this is what I was sent to this dimension for?" Star wondered and was about to ask. "Hey. We got to get to class now. There's like two minutes before the bell." Peter said. "See you in second!"
Star pushed her thoughts into the back of her mind as she offered a smile. "Yeah okay. See you!" And with that, both kids walk off to their separate classes.
