The Spider & The Butterfly

Pre-Game

"Finally!" Star cheered. She was in her loft at the Parker household. "Now that I'm done, I'll go get a snack, then find Peter!" Star ran downstairs to the kitchen to grab some of Aunt May's homemade chocolate chip cookies. The alien grabbed as many as she could before plopping herself on the coach, trying not to awake the sleeping pups in the room. Then grabbed the remote to turn on the TV. The news came up. The camera panned on Oscorp as police and other emergency vehicles were on the scene. The anchorwoman spoke. 

"Earlier today, there was an attack on the multi-million dollar company Oscorp. The CEO and his son Norman and Harry Osborn were not present at the time of the attack. Thankfully, no one is seriously injured thanks to the timely intervention of Spider-Man."

"Alright Peter!" Star quietly cheered before looking at the next set of news. 

"Unfortunately, our friendly-neighborhood hero was found bruised and unconscious in the company's weapon division."

"Oh no." Star gasped, worried about her friend as she nervously ate her cookies. 

"Oscorp has kept quiet on what was taken, but it is safe to assume the intruder used the stolen technology to defeat Spider-Man and make his escape. The Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division has already picked up Spider-Man and is launching an investigation on who, or what, has lead this attack."

Star turned off the television and got to her feet. "I have to help and find out if Peter is okay." 

Meanwhile, Ludo had returned to his castle on Mewni. He was back to normal as he opened the doors to the throne room. "That was amazing! Never once have I felt so powerful. I even beat Spider-Man!" He looked up at Thanos, who was sitting in Ludo's throne. "But it wore off... I need more of that power!"

"And more you will get." Thanos responded. "But... I need something of you in return."

"Yes? What is it?"

"The wand." Thanos stated. "The very same wand you seek is powered by one of these stones." he explained while holding up his gauntleted hand. "I need that stone for my plans and in return..." The purple gem in his knuckle began to glow. "This power will be permanent. Do we have a deal?"

"Yes."

"Excellent." The Power stone began to glow brighter and Ludo glowed the same color. In seconds, Ludo was the Green Goblin once more. 

"One question." Goblin asked. Thanos raised his chin attentively. "You have all this power yet you're sending me to retrieve the wand. Why?" he inquired. 

"My motives are none of your concern." he stated. "But there is a certain... spell around the wand that a non Mewman can't break. I require one to achieve that purpose."

"Ah. I see." Ludo said while putting a finger to his chin. Then he mounted his Goblin glider. "It will be done!" he declared before opening a portal and flying through. 

Aboard the Helicarrier, Star was searching for her best friend. "Where's Spider-Man?" she asked a female agent. "In the infirmary with Director Fury." the agent answered. "Thank you!" Star said while taking off.

In the infirmary, Peter laid shirtless in a bed. He had several bruises around his face and chest, and second degree burns along his arms. While his accelerated healing factor took the worst of the damage, he still was sore in many places. 

Director Fury sat in a chair beside Peter's bed, debriefing him on what had transpired when Star ran in. 

"Nick! Where's Peter?" she asked. 

Pete raised his hand. "Over here." She sped over to him. "What happened? Are you okay? Who did this to you? Where did they go?" Star asked so fast, it was almost incoherent. 

"Whoa. Whoa. Slow down a little Star. I'm okay."

Fury finally spoke. "Believe it or not Star Butterfly, but your old pal Ludo did this."

"What?" Star asked as if they were telling a joke. 

"Let's say Ludo's not qualified to play tee ball anymore." Peter joked before a sharp pain in his arm caused him to flinch. Star gazed at him with worry but at the same time, admiring how strong he looked both physically and as far as willpower goes. "Sorry about that. Basically he's bigger, badder, and hits like so. Didn't take him long to wipe the floor with me." the teen finished. 

Star broke from her trance to answer. "And this is the same Ludo we're talking about?"

"It would seem so. Even though he calls himself the Green Goblin now." Fury said. "And with the weaponry he stole from Oscorp, he's like a one man army."

"I'm sorry guys. It's just hard to believe that the monster I've fought for YEARS is suddenly strong enough to beat down Spider-Man." Star said as she walked to the door. 

"Star! Don't you go thinking you can take him on. Besides, it looks like he's after you."

The princess's wand began to glow red. "Don't worry. You rest up Pete. I got this." she declared, then left the room. 

"That girl's gonna get herself in a lot of trouble." Fury said. 

"I'm going to stop her." Peter said as he tried to get up, but his arms wouldn't comply and he was forced to sink back down. 

"No, she's right. You need to rest Parker."

"But she's going to get thrashed!"

"You need to start putting more faith in your partner Spider-Man. Cause believe it or not, she's a more experienced fight than you." With that, Fury got up and left the room. 

Peter watched in disbelief before sinking his head down in frustration.
