Not While I'm Around - Sweeney Todd - Toby x Reader

A/N - I changed the song a bit since Toby sings it to Mrs. Lovett. In this version, you are with Toby and he thinks Todd is after you since you know what's going on with the barber shop. Unfortunately, he doesn't know, and you are too scared to tell him in case you put him in danger.

"You know, (Y/N)," Toby takes your hand, "there isn't a think I wouldn't do for you. If there was a monster or something after you, I'd tear it apart with my bare fists, I would. A monster, or even a man."
You know Toby knows about you finding out about what happened in the barber shop, but you won't tell him in case it puts him in danger.
"You don't need to. Its not safe," you say.
"I don't care. Nothing's gonna harm you, not while I'm around. Nothing will harm you, no, sir, not while I'm around. Demons are prowling everywhere, nowadays. I'll send them howling, I don't care. I got ways," Toby says. You look down, blushing a little. Toby gently lifts your chin up to look at him.
"No one's gonna hurt you, no one's gonna dare. Others can desert you, not to worry, whistle, I'll be there. Demons'll charm you with a smile, for a while, but in time, nothing can harm you. Not while I'm around."
Toby pulls you to your feet and starts walking down the street with you.
"Not to worry, I may not be smart but I'm not dumb. I can do it, put me to it, show me something I can overcome. Not to worry (Y/N), being close and being clever ain't like being true. I don't need to, I would never hide a thing from you. Like some," Toby says. You know he means Sweeney Todd. He hid everything from you both, but now you know. And you won't tell Toby for fear that Todd will come after him.

"You shouldn't worry about me," you say.
"I do. You won't tell me what's wrong," Toby says. You stop walking just before you get to Mrs. Lovett's shop.
"Before I tell you, I need you to know something. Nothing's gonna harm you, not while I'm around. I won't let anything touch you," you say.
"Now will you tell me?" Toby asks. You look around to make sure no one is listening. Even then, you whisper to Toby.
"Mr. Todd has been killing all his clients. And I think Mrs. Lovett has been helping him. I always wondered what she put in those pies. I think I found out," you whisper. Toby pulls you into a hug.
"Are you sure?" he asks.
"I am," you say, "and I think Mr. Todd's after me now. He can't let me say anything. He'll be sent back to prison."
"Don't worry," Toby whispers into your hair, "nothing's gonna harm you, not while I'm around."
You pull out of the hug, tears in your eyes.
"Don't cry, (Y/N). You'll be fine. No one will dare hurt you. Not while I'm around," Toby says. You hug him again, scared of the future, but happy in that moment.
