"Sweetheart, she's awake." The woman said.
"Really? Can I see her?" The man said.
The woman put the toddler in his arms. The man got up and started to carry the toddler away when the toddler started to cry. The toddler started to fuss and yanked the man's hair. He gave the toddler back to the woman to stop the toddler from pulling out all his hair. The toddler immediately stopped crying, not because she favored the woman more, but because she was now interested in a new person. The toddler tilted her head so she could get a view over the woman's shoulders and sucked on her thumb, behind the woman stood a little girl holding a doll.
"Mommy, who is that?" The little girl said.
"This, Carmen," the woman said turning around and squatting down to the little girl's height, "is your baby sister.".*****
I walked up through the whole dorm building E and didn't find Yavara's room once. Then, a security guard stopped me and covers my eyes. I scream and kick to get him to let go of me, and he finally does. But when he drops me, I'm in someone's dorm room. I scramble around and get up, ready to yell at him, but I stop dead in my tracks. When I look behind me, I see a girl sitting on a couch facing me with a laptop on her lap. I didn't have to of seen her ninety times to know it was her. I was sitting right in front of Yavara Cyvaira, the strongest girl in school, strongest person in school, and 400 bout winner, no losses.
Yavara stands up from the couch and extends out her hand for me to shake. She looked at me with a blank expression, emotionless, like a robot. I looked like a true loser compared to her, sitting on my legs, scrambling to pick up my papers. She sees I need help and and stoops down to help me gather my papers.
"Thank you." I say
Yavara doesn't respond.
"Wow, that's a first! Yavara actually stooping down to help someone. Usually your head is too big to do anything like that!" A boy behind her jokes. Yavara turns around and sends him a nasty glare with a pillow for a side.
"Ok, ok! I'm sorry!" He says laughing and throwing the pillow back at her.
"Hey Verlynn, I'm Markus, Yavara's boyfriend." He says all formal like. This earns him three more pillows to the face. The boy keeps on laughing, and soon Yavara starts laughing and calls him an idiot.
"I'm kidding, I'd never date her. I'm Markus, Yavara's brother." the boy says while removing a pillow off of his face. Yavara still says nothing. The boy, Markus, chuckles and babbles about how it's funny because Yavara has no boyfriend.
"So uh....where do I sleep?" I ask for anyone to answer. Yavara points to a bedroom towards the left. I walk into set my things down and fix up my room and when I walk out, Yavara is talking to the boy about something. I hide behind the corner and eavesdrop on them.
"—you're just mad because your boyfriend Relvin isn't here." Markus jokes.
"No I'm not." Yavara declines.
"Anyways, are you gonna tell her?" Markus asks.
"Tell her what?" Yavara asks.
"You know what." Markus states.
"Absolutely not, if she finds out I could be removed from this school!" Yavara exclaims. I smirk. This is a piece of evidence that nearly confirms it. She's a Humaveran and is scared of me finding out.
"Make sure she doesn't tell anyone. Wait, actually, Maj'll probably just tell her anyways." Markus states again. I had to put my hand over my mouth to avoid gasping. Maj, you knew the whole time? I think.
"Very true. Plus Verlynn is smart, she'll figure it out. If she does...back to Shurvu Academy I go." Yavara says sadly.
"Don't forget that Relvin won't be able to come back to school anymore too. If he is able to, he'll be highly monitored." Markus declares. Wait a minute, Relvin is Humaveran too? I think.
"Yeah I know. Stop putting so much pressure on me! Geez, you never see me do this to you!" Yavara exclaims, hitting Markus in the stomach.
"Ouchie. That hurts. That's because I don't have a secret as big as yours." Markus remarks. Yavara keeps quiet.
"That doesn't matter anyways, all you need to do is make sure your secret stays a secret." Markus adds.
"You're absolutely right." Yavara agrees.
Now that I think about this wasn't what I expected. I expected Yavara to be full of herself, annoying, and such a book nerd, but she's way different. She seems super friendly and social. I never thought of Humaverans that way. I thought of them as a violent, no-emotion monster. Yavara Cyvaira, you have really surprised me. You are not at all what I expected.
