"Aboo~" the baby said.
"Ssh, daddy will wake up and there'll be trouble, you don't want there to be trouble, do you?" the woman said, quieting the baby. The baby kept quiet. The woman quietly picked up her son and took him out of his crib. The toddler woke up and was able to get up and walk. The woman silently left the room with all the belongings dear to her, her son, and her daughter. She slipped out of the house without waking her boyfriend and left the house for good.*****
"Thanks, Maj." I say, throwing the plastic plate and fork away.
"No problem, love." Maj says, throwing away his food too.
"So....have you told Verlynn?" I ask.
"Have you told Verlynn you and Relvin are dating?" Maj asks, answering my question with a question.
"Absolutely not." I respond on reflex.
"There's your answer." Maj says.
"She's catching on though. She also thinks I'm Humaveran." I state.
"Humaveran?" Maj asks.
"Mhm. I bet you the only reason she's doing this is to regain the title of strongest student in Metzulvera Academy. That and because I'm her cousin, she probably just wants to expose my mother for some reason. Make her lose all her fame. Make her lose her job. Make her lose her money." I explain.
"Those are very valid reasons." Maj agrees, pouring both of us a cup of orange juice.
"Maj, do you think I'm Humaveran?" I ask softly, curious what his answer would be.
"Not even a little. Your reflexes are too fast for them to be Humaveran, much like your mother's. The intense amount of skill you have is too advanced for Humaverans too. Your speed is too advanced too. Everything about you is too advanced for Humaverans too." Maj states.
"Hmm. Maj, let me see your hands." I command.
"W-why?" he asks, backing away. I quickly grab his hands before he can react. I can't believe it. He's like me. He has the ink drawings. He has the lion and lamb. I trace my finger over them. They're legit.
"Y-you, you have the lion and lamb ink drawing." I say, shocked and slowly backing away from him.
"Yavara, look, I can explain—" Maj says, slowly coming towards me.
"Maj....you don't understand. I thought I was alone. Y-you're just like me. You have the drawings too." I say, petrified and still backing away. Maj keeps quiet and just walks towards me.
"I was told that the drawings only ran through my family unless....unless they weren't lying. Unless you're really related to me. Unless you're really my brother." I state. Maj stops. It's not like he didn't believe at all what they told us, he just didn't completely trust it. He still treats me like he knew 100% I was his sister, and I do the same too. But now, it's true. It's truer than ever.
"It all makes sense now. The similar stories. The similar descriptions of what she looked like. Everything!" I point out. I feel sick to my stomach.
"Y-Yavara, are you ok?" Maj stutters.
"I'm fine, I just.....need to go." I say.
"No, you look sick to your stomach. You really shouldn't go alone, I can come with you?" Maj suggests.
"No, I'm fine." I say, turning down the offer.
"Are you sure?" he asks.
"What does it mean? What do these drawings mean?" I mutter.
"What?" he questions.
"Nothing. I need to go. Thanks for the meal." I say before quickly exiting the house. The sudden wave of nausea calms down a bit. All of a sudden, I hear this voice in my head. You are the prophecy. You are different. You are more than what you seem. You are special. Follow the prophecy, Yavara. Stop trying to hide your true power. Just drop the act. Become what you really are, WHO you really are. Open up the innocent's eye. The voice stops talking. I look at my hands and now the ink is more visible than ever before. This ink...what does it mean?
