"Sweetie, there's something off about her. Something different." the woman stated, monitoring the child.
"What is it?"
"She's different—like me..."
"What do you mean by that?"
"You'll find out soon..."*****
I wake up when I hear Relvin talking. I sit up in bed to see Relvin and Verlynn talking. Relvin laughs and turns to me and smiles. I already knew the annoying remark was coming.
"Ah, your Royal Highness has awoken from her slumber." Relvin jokes. I throw one of my emoji pillows at him and bury my face in my pillow.
"Relvin shut up. You make my head hurt." I say.
All of a sudden, my bedroom door opened and Ravamara peeked her head through.
"Do you know where mom is? She's usually awake before all of us." Ravamara asked.
"Dunno, probably slept in." I suggest.
"Really?"' Ravamara asks.
"Yeah, maybe." I answer.
"But it's besides that. She's been acting different. She's been nicer, it's getting kinda weird." Ravamara says, sitting on the floor.
"Tell me how." I demand, putting toothpaste on my toothbrush and brushing my teeth.
"Ok, first of all, mom made cookies three days ago. Cookies! Since when have you seen mom make those! That's not all, then she pulled out a batch of brownies!" Ravamara exclaims. I raise an eyebrow.
"Earlier, the twins were playing around and got into an argument over who gets the last of the chocolate pudding in the fridge. Allister tried to yank the bowl out of Savara's hand, and the chocolate pudding flew towards the fridge, breaking the glass bowl and splattering chocolate pudding all over the fridge AND floor. Guess what mom did instead of scolding them. She said it was fine and cleaned up the mess and let them keep on playing!" Ravamara complains. My eyes widen.
"When you guys came yesterday, Relvin tracked in dirt and grass. Mom didn't even say anything and silently cleaned it up!" Ravamara says.
"Oh! Oh! This'll convince you for sure! You know my friend Raeve who cracks jokes that are way to soon? Yea, she actually laughed at one of his jokes! That's not all! She called him funny!" Ravamara says, shocked. I start to choke. I immediately spit out the toothpaste in my mouth, put my toothbrush away, and wash out my mouth with water.
"Are you okay?" Ravamara asks.
"Yeah, I'm fine, but clearly mom isn't." I reply.
"Exactly, we need to find out what's wrong with mom." Ravamara demands.
I wipe my face off on my towel after washing my face. After that, we start to head downstairs. Ravamara starts making breakfast right away. Markus comes downstairs with the twins around his ankles.
"Hey Verlynn, could you get me the pancake mix?" Ravamara asks.
"Sure, where is it?" Verlynn questions.
"In that cabinet." she responds. Verlynn pulls her right hand out of her pocket, opens the cabinet, and grabs the pancake mix. Then, Verlynn gasps.
"OH MY GOSH MY RIGHT HAND!!!" Verlynn exclaims. Ravamara turns around, and so does Relvin.
"Woah! It's fixed!" I exclaim happily.
Then, Verlynn, Relvin, and I all look at each other. We stare for a little bit, and then begin giggling. The giggles soon manifest into full out laughter. We all were so stupid! We all give each other that look of "Oh, that's what she meant" and continue on laughing. Everyone else starts laughing because they don't get why we are laughing. The whole kitchen was just full of laughter.
