The next morning I went to work.

What I do is I receive the manuscripts being delivered to the office and distribute them to the employees who read them. I send back those that are rejected.

It was just another ordinary day.

Except that I was distracted by my thoughts.

This morning at breakfast I tried to avoid Lily.

I went down for breakfast an hour earlier than I usually do. Mom asked why I was up so early. And I just said my schedule has changed.

When I heard Lily's boots stomping upstairs I told my mom that I had to leave. Then I grabbed my jacket and went out.

I'm really hoping that she'll be out with her friends after school so I don't walk into her when I get home.

I parked the car in front of the house.

When I stepped in I can already hear music coming from her room.

Good. She's inside her room she won't see me come in.

I would just have to stay in my room the whole day till mom comes home.

I know I wouldn't do anything stupid when she's here.

When I got to my room I locked the door and went straight to the bathroom.

I need a long shower and maybe some sleep after.

When I got out of the bathroom, I put on a t shirt and shorts. But then there was a knock on my door.

"What?" I said without opening the door. I let out a breath. So much for avoiding her.

"Can you -um, can you maybe drive me and my friends to the library?"

"Can't you just catch the bus or something? I... I have to do something right now." I said. Still not opening the door. That's right. I need to do something. Sleep.

"We just missed the bus and um... the next one won't be for another two hours."

I sighed. I changed to the jeans I wore earlier and put my coat on. It's been getting kind of cold already.

I opened the door.

There she is. Looking up at me. With really hopeful eyes.

I examined what she's wearing. Grey leggings and a white sweater. All covered up. I don't know if it's the cold weather or what happened last time.

"Thanks." She said even though I didn't say anything.
