Chapter 20
The movie ended and I stood up from Xander's lap rolling my eyes at the way Rae was smiling at me. She winked at me and wiggled her brows. Brandon was fast asleep beside Xander. Josh stretched his legs on the floor before standing up.
"That was fun." Josh commented as as I turned on the lights.
"It was but I'm hungry and I better be fed or I'll go ape shit." Xander said looking at me and I raised a brow at what he said.
"You don't want to see me hangry sweetheart." he said while playfully glaring at me. I scoffed at his endearment for me but he just winked.
"So what are we having for dinner?" Rae said looking at me sheepishly. " Just so you know, I can't cook."
"I can but I don't want to hear any complaints about it." I said looking at them, they all nodded in response.
I went to the kitchen and started preparing to cook. I'm planning to make spicy stir fried veggie shrimps and Filipino style fried rice because they go so well together. I also took some kimchi and fried a batch of sausages. I can cook to be honest. We were taught to cook food from different parts of the world. It's one of the few things I actually enjoyed at the "Orphanage".
The savory smell of the veggie shrimps brought the others to the kitchen. So I told them to set up the table and Rae put the fried rice on a large plate and Xander brought it to the table, then Rae and I came in with the kimchi and sausages. He came back and brought the veggie shrimps after. We all sat around the table and started eating.
I was dumbfounded at how much boys can actually eat. I mean, we had snacks while watching movies but they still inhaled most of the food! What are their stomachs made of? The foods prepared were oily so I expected them to eat less. Oh well, at least I won't be wasting food or reheating them for breakfast.
We talked and joked around while eating, laughing at each other and making fun of each other. When we finished, we sat there planning about going out this Sunday. Rae has to ask for her mom's permission first though. We started cleaning up the table when we finalized the plan. They went home together shortly after. Well, most of them did. I noticed that Xander stayed behind so I raised a brow at him questionably.
"Aren't you going home yet?" I asked him when he standing still at the porch steps. "It's already late."
I crossed my arms in front of my chest and looked at him.
"I want to talk to you." He said.
"Can we talk some other time?" I asked. "It's cold and I'm still not feeling too well."
"Sorry." He looked at me and looked sort of sorry when he realized I wasn't feeling well. "I forgot you were not feeling well earlier."
"It's cool." I smiled lightly at him as I moved closer to him until I was standing beside him.
He looked at me seriously. So serious that I thought he was trying to solve a very difficult problem.
"So" he started to say but stopped before clearing his throat awkwardly.
"What is it?" I asked getting impatient.
He probably notice my impatience so he suddenly faced me. I was shocked by the action and moved back a step because I thought we were going to bump with each other. I was even more shocked with what he said next.
"I hope you won't evade me again after today."
He then jogged to his car, went in and drove away. Leaving me stunned on the porch.
I went in after a waking up from the short daze seeing his car drove out of sight. I locked the doors and windows then turned off the lights inside but kept the porch lights on. I went to my room and opened a secret door on the floor. It has a laptop and my favorite guns and knives. I only took the laptop out. It looks like a broken one with parts that does not fit the others, like it was put together to make a laptop. This laptop is what I use to contact the others from the Orphanage.
