“Friendship is all I can offer to you, Vince. We can may be friends in terms, but I can't promise you that I can do my obligations as your so called friend. If you can't take what I can give then—”
“No, no. It's... great! Friends.”
“I have to go.”
“Ah, aren't you gonna kiss your friend good bye?”
“Kiss my ass, Vince.”
I tried to be enthusiastic and funny in front of her. I know, I made her smile even just a little that time. Yes, I can't have her back right now, but being a friend is a good and enough reason to be with her. I can smell chances. I will get her back. Now, let's get back to the present and reality.
“Hi, Martina. I brought coffee,” itinaas ko ang dala kong kape.
Pinuntahan ko siya sa office niya. Lagi naman. Two years ago, naghiwalay kami at simula noon ay lagi akong nagpaparamdam, kaya naman napilit ko siya at naging magkaibigan kami. Noong una ay nagkakailangan pa nga, buti ngayon ay hindi na masyado. Hindi naman kasi ako tumigil sa pagsuyo sa kaniya, hindi man niya napapansin pero oo.
“What brings you here?” she asked as she let me sit on the chair in front of the office table.
“Nothing, I just missed you. Bihira na kasi kitang makita,” I chuckled.
“Hectic ang sched eh.”
“May gagawin ka ba?” I gave her a cup of coffee.
“I have a few appointments this morning. Mamaya namang hapon ay....” She stops when she seems to accidentally sniff the aroma of the coffee I handed.
“What is this? Why is it....” Inilayo niya sa kaniya 'yung kape.
“Why? What's the problem?” Nilapitan ko siya nang mag-iba ang reaksiyon ng mukha niya.
“Wala, hindi lang siguro trip ng system ko ang magkape ngayon. Anyway, thanks.”
Well, I really need to talk to her. That's why I came here. Speak yourself, Vincent!
“Ah, can I—”
“Yes, Ally?” she answered the phone call as she signs to me to hold up. “Right now? Seriously? ... What about Cara? Can't she come with me? ... Fine, thank you.” She put down the telephone and look at me, “I have to go to Batangas. Sorry, you were saying?”
“Oh, that is nothing. You can go,” I said.
Sabay kaming lumabas ng office niya at hinatid siya sa kotse niya. Gusto ko sana siyang sundan pero.... Napabuntong hininga na lang ako saka sumakay sa sariling sasakyan ko.
Martina's POV
“Babe,” I called him on the phone. “I can't make it to the hospital later. I need to go to Batangas.”
“Huh? But what if you feel woozy again? Sino na lang ang titingin sa'yo?” he worries on the line.
Sweet, jowa! Asdfghjkl, shh!!!
“Okay lang ako. Don't worry, I'll update you when I got there.”
“Tss, gusto sana kitang samahan kaso marami pa akong ginagawa ngayon. Shit! I have less than an hour to prepare for the presentation,” he said, irritated.
“Babe, I'm fine. You don't have to worry about me,” I assured him. “And about your presentation, surely, you'll slay.”
He chuckle, “Alright, just don't overwork yourself. You might feel bad again.”
