Aiden's eyes widened. He tried to process what he just heard but he was still in disbelief.
"What?" He asked, almost sounding like a whisper.
"They found him--"
"Is--" He took a moment before finishing the sentence; afraid of what the answer may be. "--is he alive?"
Everyone was now focused on Aiden; waiting for his reaction to the answer.
"Yes." Paige simple answered before breaking down into tears.
"Oh my God--" Aiden sighed in relief.
His eyes became teary. The others read his expression and all breathed a sigh of relief as well.
"We're at the hospital with him."
"OK. I'll be there right after school." He informed her.
"OK." She managed to respond.
She then hung up and Aiden looked at everyone.
"He's alive--" Miley half-asked half-stated.
He nodded with a half-smile; eyes still teary.
"Where did they find him?" Dominic asked curiously.
"I don't know--but we can all go down to the hospital after school to see him."
They all nodded.
"I'll have to reschedule working on the project with Collin." Brian stated, whilst taking his phone out to send him a text.
The bell rang, signifying the end of the lunch period.
"There goes the bell." Dominic stated.
"We'll meet at the lot after school--" Aiden half-asked half-stated.
"Yeah." Miley replied, with everyone else agreeing with a nod.
Brian and Chloe separated from the group, leaving Miley, Aiden, and Dominic.
Students were now exiting the cafeteria.
"We gotta head to class." Dominic stated, pointing his thumb behind him.
"I'll catch up with you guys later." Aiden replied, looking through the crowd that was approaching them.
Miley took his hand, and he looked back at her.
"What are you doing?" Miley asked, knowing who he was looking for.
"Trust me." Aiden simply replied, looking directly into her eyes.
She calmly sighed before nodding quickly. She then turned around and left with Dominic.
It didn't take long before Aiden spotted Lana with her friends. He approached her.
"I need to talk to you--" He simply stated.
She gave him a burning look.
"--alone."
She sighed in annoyance before stepping away from her friends. They were still walking amongst the crowd.
"What?" She hissed.
"Jason is alive."
"What?" She replied, her voice sounding less aggressive.
"Why are you surprised?" Aiden curiously asked.
"What do you mean?"
They turned a corner.
"This whole act that you're putting on--I'm not buying it. Not for a second."
