"Miley!" Adam called out from downstairs. There was no response. He then focused his attention on his mother, Susan. "Why does she always take so long?"

Susan chuckled. "You know your little sister, always has to look her best."

Adam scoffed. He went into the living room and sat on the couch beside his father, Jack, who was watching TV.

"Was I like this when I was 14?" Adam muttered.

"Nah." His father replied.

Adam sighed.

"You were worse."

Adam side-eyed him. "No way."

"Yes way. Honey, remember that girl he was so in love with in high school?"

Susan nodded quickly. "Audrey Saunders."

"Right." Jack replied. "Everyday was a struggle to get you out of the bathroom. Always had to look your best just to impress her."

"Oh boy," Adam responded, rolling his eyes at his parents.

"It's just a pity you didn't confess your love to her." Jack mocked jokingly.

Susan chuckled once more.

"OK, OK." Adam said in annoyance as he got up from the couch. He made his way to the staircase, but stopped when he saw Miley coming down.

"Finally." He stressed.

"I was brushing my teeth."

"Mhmm. C'mon. Let's go."

Miley rushed into the kitchen in order to pack her lunch in her bag.

"Will you be home for dinner?" Susan asked Adam from the living room.

"I don't know yet. I have some things to take care of."

"Things like what?" Jack questioned, getting up from the couch.

"Things dad. Geez."

"Whatever." He gestured. "Just remember to pick up your sister from school at four."

"I know dad."

"Not 4:30, not 4:20--"

"Four," Adam interrupted. "Gotcha."

Jack nodded. Adam searched his pockets for his keys. "Keys--"

Miley came in from the kitchen with them in her hand. She dangled them in front of him, and he smiled and took them. "Thanks slugger." She smiled and nodded. "Ready?"

She nodded once more in response.

"Alright. Mom, dad," He called out. "We're leaving."

"Bye guys." Susan responded. "I love you."

"Love you too mom." Adam and Miley said in unison.

"Four," Jack repeated.

Adam gave his father a straight face. Jack chuckled before giving Miley a hug.

"I love you baby girl. Have fun at school today." He said.

"Thanks dad." Miley responded, hugging her father tightly. "I love you too."

After letting go, she went out the door, followed by Adam. He pressed a button from the bunch of keys he had in his hand in order to unlock the car doors. Miley sat in the passenger's seat.

The car was his, and it was a blue Honda Civic that he got from his dad on his 18th birthday. Adam was always a straight A student in high school, and that car was his reward. Now attending college, he is planning on pursuing a degree in Psychology.
