Chapter 40

(Flashback)

"I wish to know as to why you switched to me to keep an eye on you.  Are you really that kind of puppy?" He asked.

"Yes. Byakuya was against our feelings for each other. I wanted to be closer to you. I don't want to be alone anymore..." I spoke softly.

"Ah, yes. You used to live with your parents, then a tragedy happened. You lost them. But, one of your classmates took the place of your parents. Did he not pass away as well?" Aizen asked.

I stared at Aizen. "Yes... How do you know...?" I asked in a surprised tone.

He once again chuckled softly and touched my face. "You will be surprised to what we Soul Reapers know. Also..." He gazed at me for a bit, before turning around to enter his room.

"Also..?" I repeated his last word.

Aizen opened the door to his room and glanced at me with a smile. "You need to be careful with who you share your love with. In the end that person could betray you. Would you be able to live with that?" Aizen asked

(End of flashback)

"Aizen..." I looked at him, with teary eyes.

He removed his zanpakuto and his smile remained. This is what happened with Momo...

"You were supposed to eliminate Ichigo. Sad to see you fail. If you can't do a simple task, you're of no use to me. After all those years I put into keeping you alive, in a town I created for you. You couldn't handle such task." Aizen said.

Aizen had explained to me, his plans. Everything. I accepted it and didn't go against him. I was ready to follow his every order.

I clung on to Aizen and wrapped my arms around his neck. "Yes..." I told him.

Aizen stared at me. "Yes? To what?"

I smiled a bit. "You asked me... If the person I love betrayed me in the end, if I can live with that? It's a yes. I can live with that... I can live with such betrayal. I know I never had anything to begin with..."

I slowly let go of him and closed my eyes.

Aizen wrapped an arm around me and his smile turned to a frown. "So, you saw my betrayal coming? Hmph. Still, you chose to help me over living. Pathetic."

Aizen touched my face. "I will miss your lips." He said, before he let go of me. Letting me fall.

I slowly opened my eyes and watched as I was getting farther and farther away from Aizen. Once my body hits the ground... I'd be happy...

I felt someone wrap their arms around me and my eyes widened.

"Byakuya..." I said.

Byakuya landed on the ground and held me close to him. His injuries were healed.

Byakuya stared at me and looked up at Aizen. "How can you even live with such betrayal? You are a strange human." Byakuya said, as he looked at me with a smile on his face.

"Why are you... Always around... When I don't want to see you...?" I asked as I looked away.

Byakuya touched my face and pressed his index finger on my lips. "I didn't take you because I felt guilty. Now I know that he was a hollow to begin with, let's just say... I despised it when you and Aizen..." He paused and laid me down on the ground.

I couldn't help but cry when Byakuya joined Ichigo to fight Aizen.

I watched as Byakuya was hit with Aizen's zanpakuto, Ichigo would attack Aizen whenever he was distracted with Byakuya.
