Chapter 14 - Is This Taboo?

- John was able to catch up to Newt and Catherine
- He has Newt held at gunpoint while James, Thomas, Catherine, and Angela were watching
- John tells them what James wasn't able to mention to them
- He says that if Newt and (Y/N) reunite, they'll die

Chapter 14 - Is This Taboo?

Die.

The word struck a nerve with everyone. Neither one of them (except for John and James) knew how high the stakes were.

"What do you mean die?" Catherine asked. Her green eyes flickering from James to John.

"Why don't you tell them James?"

"It's nothing drastic," James tried to say.

"Nothing drastic?" John seethed. "I just said that Newt and (Y/N) could die!"

"It won't happen."

"Yes it will!"

"With that attitude it will!"

"Stop!" Angela spoke up. "Shut up both of you! The two of you are bickering like a married couple and it isn't making it better for my head! Now, explain. What is this about dying? John, you go first."

In her outburst, Angela didn't see that Thomas was looking at her in awe. She also didn't notice that John was seeing someone in her steed. Someone he once knew and lost.

She gave him the chance to explain. That's what he'll do.

"Why I'm saying that Newt and (Y/N) could die of they meet is because if they see each other again, they can lose their minds."

While John was explaining the danger if (Y/N) and Newt meeting each other again, James wasn't listening. He was staring at Angela. He was thinking all night about what Edith said. That she was John's daughter.

If that was so, then who was her mother? How did she end up here? Was it through normal terms or did she pass through a portal?

But the headaches. She said that she was receiving headaches. That wasn't a good sign. Also, when he was explaining about the portals yesterday, her head was also hurting. He thought that maybe it was just confusion. Or a human's natural reaction to anything they can't understand.

What if it was something that he didn't expect?

It was true. He didn't expect this.

"James."

When he first saw Angela, he didn't give her a second thought. But when she took control of the situation earlier, she reminded him of someone. Someone he once knew and lost.

"James."

James was back to reality. He saw that John was already done. He already explained the reason why Newt and (Y/N) couldn't meet. He saw that in between the conversation, John let Newt go. Newt was now on the ground alongside Catherine who had a hand on his blond locks.
