Ascella's POV
I went through my locker for my books. There was murmuring and talking, causing me to look up. Manor Hill was playing my school's lacrosse team today. Those pompous rich boys strutted down the hall like they owned us. Heck, with their parent's fortune, they probably can. I shook my head and went back to getting my books. Suddenly, someone ran into me, causing my locker door to hit my head and fall to the floor.
"Ow..." I groaned. I felt arms help me up.
"Jesus, you okay?"
"My name's not Jesus and yes, I think so." I looked and saw one of the Manor Hill boys. He smiled and held my books. I was starting to see double.
"There are two of you and I think that's bad."
"C'mon, lets get you to the nurse. Which way?"
"Down the hall to the right."

He took me there and waited with me as I held an ice pack to my head.
"Hey, I never got your name." I looked to him. He had slightly messy short brown hair and blue eyes. He smiled, "My name's Oliver Kingsley."

"Woah, your dad owns like

"Woah, your dad owns like...half of Wall Street..."
"Yeah."
"My name's Ascella."
"Wow...your name's as beautiful as you."
"Did you really just say that?"
"Yes I did and I'm actually proud of that." He chuckled. I smiled, feeling comfortable and safe with him. The nurse came in, "Want me to call your dad, Ascella? You have a bad concussion and I don't want you passing out in class."
"No, señora, I think I'll be okay."
"Okay, stay in the office for now then. Principal Calling is lecturing those boys that caused this."
"Gracias." I called after her as she left. I turned to Oliver who was looking at me, "What?"
"Sounds like you come here a lot."
"No, I'm just a very nice person who knows nearly everyone in this school."
He nodded and looked at the clock, "You coming to the game tonight?"
"No, I have detention."
"Detention? You?"
"Yeah, I can be a bad girl sometimes." I teased. I could see him turn hot pink and bite his lip.

Why did he bite his lip?! Why?! Why do I always fall for a lip bite?! All I did was stare at his lips before he looked at me and I turned away. I could feel myself blushing. Suddenly, Principal Calling opened the door.
"I dealt with the delinquents and in an apology from me and them, you don't have detention anymore, Ms. Amaro."
"Thank you, sir."
"Ah, you must be from Manor Hill, I'm Principal Calling."
"Very Nice to meet you sir."
"I wish you best of luck tonight, but my spirit is with my school."
"Completely understood." Oliver smiled and winked at me as Principal Calling turned around and walked out. I rolled my eyes.

Once he left, Oliver turned to me, "Looks like you can go to the game."
"Alright, Oliver,"
"Olly, please, my father calls me Oliver."
I lifted my brow, "Okay, Olly, let me just text my dad."
He nodded and I pulled out my phone.

Hey dad, Calling got rid of my detentions. Do you mind
if I watch the lacrosse
game after school?

Dad Cop 👮🏻‍♂️🕵🏻‍♂️: That's fine, as long as you get a ride home. I don't want you out alone. If I get out on time, I'll pick you up.

Okay, thank you. I love you.

Dad Cop👮🏻‍♂️🕵🏻‍♂️: I love you too.

I put my phone away and turned to Olly. He was messing with the cotton balls on the counter.
"When are you practicing?"
He dropped a cotton ball, "Oh shit."
"Oh my god! Go!" I laughed as he rushed out.

~later after school~
I sat on the bleachers, watching as the guys ran across the field. Olly was number 15, and right now he was an attacker. I watched as they pushed at each other and scrambled for the ball. It was super intense and rough. I was rarely cheering as those around me were basically screaming.

The game lasted for a good two hours and everyone was starting to go home. My school lost and Manor Hill was celebrating.
I stood, looking for Olly. Then I saw him running towards me and smiling, "You stayed!"
"I did! Congrats!" I grinned.
"How are you getting home?"
"Don't know yet."
"C'mon."
"Wait, don't you want to celebrate?"
"Nah, they're just gonna go get pizza and when the coaches leave, they're gonna get crossed and wasted. I don't really like doing that."
I nodded and waited outside of the locker room, quickly texting my dad that I got a ride.
He came out in sweats and a sweatshirt, his hair wet.
"C'mon, my car is over here."
"Didn't you guys bus?"
"The others did. I hate buses."
We arrived to his grey BMW. He opened my door and I gracefully got in. He loaded his duffle-bag in the backseat and got in the drivers seat.
"Address?"
I told him and we drove. It was quiet with music playing softly. He seemed focused and a bit tired. I couldn't not look at him. He was so charming and incredibly nice and funny. Holy shit someone smack me!

"Hey, Ascella."
"Yes?"
"Can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"If I didn't have money, would anything change between us?"
I furrowed my brows, "Why would it change? I don't care if you have money or not..."
He looked at me with skeptic eyes before looking back to the road.
"Olly..."
"Hm."
"I thought you were too cool for me because you're rich..."
"And if I wasn't, would you still think that?"
"No, but I'd still be scared to talk to you because you're so...charismatic and handsome and respected..."
"No I'm not." He mumbled.
"Olly, we just met...why are you doubting me?"
"It doesn't matter."
"Of course it matters. You're not just hurting yourself by being an ass, you're hurting me too!"
He looked at me with sad eyes and pulled over. I felt utter fear and regret, but I still spoke.
"When we were talking in the nurses office, it was the safest I had ever felt with a man who isn't my father. My ex-boyfriend beat me and hurt me so bad before I met you. I barely let my friends touch me...but when you helped me, I've never felt safer...I don't like you because you have money, I like you because I feel safe and worthy. I don't feel like a punching bag or a piece of meat. I..." He kissed me gently.
What was I doing?! I just met him!
I kissed back, holding the hand that was cupping my face. We parted and stayed quiet for a moment. He sat back and started the car. I sat back also and couldn't help the smiled I had on my face.

We got to my house and I unbuckled.
"When can I see you again?" He spoke up. I looked at him, "I work at the diner just around the corner on Fridays and weekends...from 4 pm to 9 pm. You can see me there. Then I'm free over the summer."
He nodded and pushed hair behind my ear. I leaned in and kissed him. He reached in the back and pulled out his letterman sports jacket, "Here."
"Olly, I shouldn't."
"Please..."
I smiled and nodded, putting it on.

I got out and went to my steps, waving to him. He drove away and I opened the door. Dad was in the kitchen as Zara played with her toys. I took off my jacket along with my bag, "Hi!"
"Hey, how was the game?"
"It was good, but the other team won."
"Who was it?"
"Manor Hill."
"Jeez, I bet they were slaughtered."
"Yeah..." I walked up stairs and went to my room. I hung up the jacket in my closet and smiled, laying on my bed.

Today was a good day...
