Ascella's POV I woke up at 6 am that morning and went over to Rafael's place. I unlocked the door with my key and quietly came in, taking off my shoes. I went to his room and found him asleep in the bed under the covers, in a plain t-shirt. I smiled and took off my slightly snow covered jacket and hung it up before climbing into the bed. "Ella?" He murmured, "What time is it?" "6:35...am." "Ella, this is the time I get to sleep in because they think I just came back from Gstaad." I nodded and dug myself into his shoulder. He sighed and wrapped his arms around me, "Can we talk about that conversation with your dad earlier?" "No." "Okay, then let me sleep." "Okay, papí." I murmured, moved my head to his chest, and listened to his heartbeat. It was another hour or so before Rafael got out of bed. "I'm gonna take a shower, wanna join me?" He murmured. I nodded and we headed into the bathroom. Soft music played as Rafael held me under the water.

"Ella...are you okay?" I thought for a moment before answering. "No..." "What do you need?" "I...I just want to be happy...I wanna be happy with you and my dad and my sister...but I know I can't. "Please tell me we're not watching this." "Yeah, you're right..." He changed it to a random Christmas movie and he pulled me onto his lap, which made me laugh before his lips connected with mine. I laid my head on his shoulder and took in his scent. "I love you." "I love you too, Ella." He rubbed my back, "So...do you still want that birthday sex?" I laughed and pulled away, looking at him, "I think I do..." He smiled, pushing the bathrobe up my thighs.

She hung up and sighed, "Um, Maya was just in an accident. I have to go." I nodded and kissed her gently before she went to put her shoes on.
Nick's POV I was reading the paper at the table when Ascella came in. "Can you help me?" She was holding a carrier. I rushed over and placed the carrier on the table as she carried in a baby bag. "Hi, Tanner!" I smiled, pinching his cheek lightly. Then I turned to Ascella, "What's happening?" "Maya got into an accident, Enzo needed someone to watch him." "How bad?" "I'm not sure." She picked Tanner up and kissed his cheeks. I smiled and put my mug away before holding her close to me as she held Tanner. "I'm sorry." I murmured. Ascella sighed and shook her head, "It's okay, dad. Don't worry." She sat on the couch, talking softly to Tanner as he watched her with wide eyes.
I had returned to work the next week and I sat at my desk, thinking about Ascella. She still had to watch over Tanner as Maya recovered. Maya had collapsed at work and she was unresponsive but stable for the most part. "Hey, Amaro." Fin patted my shoulder, "You good, brother?" I laughed it off and nodded, "Yeah, I'm good. Getting used to the new year." "And what about Ella? Heard she's watching her ex's baby." "Yeah." I got up and listened to what Cap had to say. "Since you all brought that up, Maya's accident, wasn't an accident." I listened closer. We all dispersed and I put my jacket on. We headed out to do some questioning. I arrived at the hospital with Liv. Enzo was talking outside with a doctor when he saw us come in. "Detective Benson, Détective Amaro, what are you doing here?" "We...are here about Maya." "What do you mean?" Liv explained the situation while I talked to a nurse about her condition. "She is still unconscious...we're not sure if she'll wake up anytime soon." "My daughter used to date her partner, Enzo. She's been taking care of their child..." "Ah yes, Tanner. Well, let's home she wakes up soon. A child without its mother-" "I know." I sighed. The nurse nodded and went back to work. Liv went to me and we left the hospital. I entered the precinct and saw Ascella holding Tanner. "Ella, what are you doing here?" She turned to me, "Cap thought it was best to question me. He told me about the situation." "Thank you for coming in, Ella." Cragen walked out to us. She nodded and looked to Tanner, "Let's go, Handsome." "I'm just gonna walk her out." I said, but Cragen stopped me. "I need you here." Munch got up, "I've got it. C'mon, Princess." Ella scrunched up her nose and smiled before kissing my cheek, "I'll see you at home." She made Tanner wave and they walked out.
Ascella's POV I put Tanner down for his nap and turned to the door. Rafael smiled as I walked over to him. "You shouldn't be here." I kissed him gently. He hummed, "I don't care right now. I like seeing you like this, out of work." "You've seen me enough like this during the holidays." "Not like this...maternal." He whispered as we looked at Tanner. "He's not mine..." "Maybe one day." He murmured, "W-You can have this." I turned to him and shook my head before walking out and going downstairs. "You're such a dork, you know that?" I turned on the sink, but he turned it off, which made me laugh, "Raf-" "Why do you think like that?" "What?" "You literally have no hope in yourself." "Of course I have-" "Ascella." He whispered, "I've seen you, watched you. I-I know that's creepy, but we've been together for nearly 8 months, other than that little break, but I mean, you do everything for everyone else. This morning you were upset because you wanted to be happy, with everyone else. Not just for yourself." I sighed and walked out of the kitchen and into the living room. He followed and we sat on the couch together. "Why does this make you so upset, Raffa?" "Because it upsets you. And I love you. Very much." "But why else? Why does it upset you?" "Because I want that with you, Ella. A life, a family." I looked down, "Funny. I assumed you never really wanted children." "Not until I met you." He smiled. I nodded and leaned in to kiss him. He kissed me back and we stayed like that for a bit until his phone buzzed. He sighed, "It's Liv. I've gotta go." "Okay." He kissed me one more time, "I love you, Ascella." "I love you too, Raffa."
