Chapter 53

Sherlock's POV

John was looking out the window miserably at the torrential rain outside when I came out of the bedroom, with only a white bed-sheet around my otherwise naked body.

"What're we going to do today, Sherlock?" He asked as I hugged him from behind, resting my chin on the top of his head. He leaned back into me, and I smiled and kissed his head.

"We could play a board game? Cluedo, perhaps?"

"NO!" Came his instant reply.

I pouted. "Why not?"

"Sherlock, last time we played that game we almost caused World War III. Literally."

"Only because Mycroft was involved!" I retorted. It's true. We were playing with the Lestrade-Holmes' and then Mycroft began talking about bombs he could get his hands on to end the game once and for all. None of us, not even Graham, knew whether he was being serious. My brother really doesn't have a sense of humour. At least, not a good one, anyway.

"Sherlock," John growled, though it was lovingly (if that's possible) "You can't  even play properly. At least, not by the rules."

"What do you mean?"

"The victim can't kill himself, Sherlock, that's not how the game is played."

"John, it was the only possible explanation, giving all the facts we had," I huffed. "Given the way he died, and where he was found-"

"No, okay? No Cluedo," John interrupted, before looking around. "Okay, here's something we can do that shouldn't start a fight... Or end in divorce." He pulled away and walked over to the other side of the room. I gulped. I knew he was only joking, but that word rang out it my mind. Divorce. I knew John loved me almost as much as I loved him, but I knew he was too good for me. One piece of paper and a couple of signatures could end our marriage. And that thought terrified me more than I'd like to admit.

"Sherlock?" John's voice dragged me out of my troubling thoughts. "You alright?"

"Yeah," I breathed with a nod. He knows you're lying, idiot, he knows you as well as you know everything else. Looking down at his hands, I saw John was holding the clicker for the stereo. He pressed the 'play' button before placing it in his back pocket, then wrapping his arms around my neck, and I wrapped mine around his waist, bending down significantly.

"What's this song?" I mumbled into his hair.

"I Don't Want To Miss A Thing, by Aerosmith."

"Oh," I replied, holding him close.

John began quietly singing along, nervously looking at his feet, while I spent the whole time drinking in his beautiful features.

"I could stay awake just to hear you breathing

Watch you smile while you are sleeping

While you're far away and dreaming

I could spend my life in this sweet surrender

I could stay lost in this moment forever

Every moment spent with you is a moment I treasure

"Don't wanna close my eyes

I don't wanna fall asleep

'Cause I'd miss you, baby

And I don't wanna miss a thing

"'Cause even when I dream of you

The sweetest dream would never do
