Ezra had spent her Christmas break on the couch, after FPs not-so retirement party she'd been feeling miserable. She didn't want to go out, she didn't want to hang out with her friends, she just wanted to stay at home in her pyjamas and watch Keeping Up With The Kardashians re-runs.
Over the past couple of weeks she'd been steadily working through her dietary rules with her dads help, she'd even managed to overcome one of her fear foods and ate some of the takeout her dad ordered from the crazy expensive Chinese restaurant he loved.
Alice Cooper had come over on Christmas Eve with gingerbread cookies and gifts, she asked to talk to Ezra but was told outright by the teen that she didn't want to talk to her, or anyone for that matter.
Sweet Pea had come over a couple times, usually when FP was working, and made on his promise to watch Disney Channel movies with her for as long as she'd put up with him. He also brought up the possibly of getting back together but was shot down when Ezra said she didn't want to talk about it, not yet anyway.
It was the Sunday before school started again and instead of finishing her homework, Ezra was laid out on the couch in sweatpants and her dads hoodie eating fruit snacks that Frankie had brought with him on one of his visits and watching Say Yes to the Dress.
"Do you want to shower first for school tomorrow or can I?" Jughead asked, emerging from his room in a t-shirt and pyjama bottoms. Ezra could hear him typing all morning but didn't question it.
She shook her head, biting into the last apple slice in the container "You can go, I'm not going in tomorrow."
Jugheads eyebrows knitted together as he rounded the corner into the living room "Ezra, you haven't left the house in like two weeks. You can't just start skipping school."
"I thought you were Forsythe the third, not the second?" She asked sarcastically, tossing the plastic container into the table "I'll go the day after, I just don't want to go."
"You can still shower even if you're not going to school, you know." Jughead elected to ignore his sister's sarcasm "I can just wait until the water heats up again, that way I could probably get more writing done."
Clicking the TV off, Ezra rolled her eyes as she got up and grabbed her bottle of water "Will you just get in the shower if you're going? God, why are you up my ass all of a sudden?"
Part of her felt a little guilty as she slammed her door behind her, she knew Jughead was worried about her and was just trying to make conversation but she could really do without it right now.
Her room was the second biggest, after all there was once a time where she had to share with Jellybean. Her bed was made by her, something she was always proud of. It used to be a regular bed but it broke when she tried teaching Jellybean how to do backflips on it, now it was her mattress on top of wooden pallets that she'd cleaned up and painted one summer.
Other furnishings were more simple, her wardrobe and mirror were shoved up against the wall the door was on and her desk was across from her bed. Jellybeans bed used to be there and the desk was new, a Christmas gift from her dad.
Everything else was on shelves Frankie helped hang up, just junk like money boxes and books sat on them. Normal People, the book she was currently reading, was thrown on the bed. Posters of bands, musicians and movies covered the majority of the walls, Ezra went through all the phases so her walls looked more like a museum than anything else.
