Chapter 22

                Ezra Jones

Jordan, Toni, Jughead and I sat in the waiting room in silence. No one wanting to talk about what happened.

"It was Reggie Mantle" Jordan mumbled, his voice shaky.

We all turn our attention towards him as he had broken the silence.

He scoffs, shaking his head "So you're all just gonna sit here and do nothing. Let him get away with it? Well not me, I'm going to find the bastard who put my best friend here" he quickly stands up and closes his jacket.

"You do that" I spit.

I shouldn't be taking my feelings out on Jordan, he's hurting just as bad as I am.

He doesn't retaliate. He isn't as dumb as people make him out to be and he knows I don't mean it. Instead he storms out of the hospital, Toni following to 'make sure he doesn't do anything stupid'.

"Look, Ezra. I have to make sure-."

"Go, I understand" I sighed "I'm going to stay here, make sure Fangs is okay when he wakes up"

Jughead nods sympathetically, kissing my forehead before taking off.

I bring my knees to my chest. Fangs has to be okay, he can't die.

"Are you okay, sweetheart?" A female nurse has sat down beside me.

I shake my head slowly "Not really.."

"Are you close to that boy..the one you and your friends brought in"

I nod, a small smile forming "We grew up together. He's one of my best friends"

She smiles resting her hand on mine "Tell me about him"

I appreciate her niceness, she didn't have to talk to me, but she did.

I tell her everything about him. How he's afraid of the dark, how he was my first kiss in a game of dares when we were twelve.

I tell her about the whole situation with Midge, and Reggie. How Fangs did some really stupid shit.

I tell her how I secretly want Fangs and Kevin to start dating, I tell her how much Jordan loves him, how much I love him, how much everyone loves him.

I tell her things I've never told anyone.

I tell her things I should've told Fangs before, like how much I secretly loved his terrible puns, or how much I appreciated everything he's done for me, or how much Jordan loves him even though he would never admit it.

I excuse myself when I get a phone call from Jughead.

"Hey Jug, is everything alright?"

"I need you to watch out for Toni, the Ghoulies were holding her at the quarry. I also need you to look after Betty for me, you can do that right? Listen to me Ezra, I love you so much. Don't you ever forget that. I'm so sorry, I'll see you soon okay?"

The call drops and so does my heart. What is this idiot doing now?

Meet @ the quarry. ASAP. Jughead is in trouble.

I bolt out of the hospital and begin sprinting towards the quarry, hoping and praying that Jughead was doing just fine.

I hear shouts, one voice in particular stands out.

Penny Peabody.

A huge group of Ghoulies are crowded around Jughead, beating him senseless.
