I run my fingers through my hair and clench my hands, pulling at it. I take a deep breath and then breathe out.
Before I can even finish my breath a force pushes me back, making me stumble.
"You. You did this to her." Ben says.
"I-I'm sorry, I came here to apologize to Kate."
Ben starts to yell angrily, "No. You don't get to talk to her! You broke her heart and then beat her senseless! And you think an apology is going to fix this?!?!?"
"No, but-listen Kate," my words are stuttered.
"Get away from her!" He yells.
I feel a sudden pang. He's right. I don't deserve to even look at her. It took me this long to realize how lucky I was to have her, and now I've lost her forever. I lost her a long time ago.
