"I did. I still do."

I wanted him to say that he didn't, it would make it easier to turn him in. It would make everything easier.

"Then why? Why did you kiss her?" I say.

"I-I was scared, I had never been in love before. I convinced myself that I was bored. I convinced myself that I wasn't in love with you. I started to act snarky and mean-"

"Like a jerk?" I interrupt.

The corner of his mouth curves slightly, "ya, like a jerk," he continues, "I guess I was so good at acting, I fooled myself."

I cross my arms, "that's no excuse."

"I know, and I don't expect you to understand, but-"

A sudden anger erupts from me, "Your right, I don't understand! You can't do that! I mean, that's not how love works!" I start to calm down, "you can't just pretend you don't love someone like that."

His hands run through his brown hair, which looks greasy, "I'm sorry."

I'm done here, "look, I have to go."

He nods and starts to walk toward his house, but pauses before he gets there.

"Wait," he says turning around, "what brought this on?"

"I'm going to turn you in, Luke."

"Oh," he says.
