When Ben and I finish weaving through the crowd of people to get to the Ferris wheel, we get in line. The line is short, so it doesn't take long before we're at the front.
We sit down together in the cart marked 9. The seats are smaller than you would think so we squeeze. We're so close that I can almost hear his breaths, but I'm ok with that.
The cart moves and I watch as another couple is loaded in. Once everyone is in their carts the Ferris wheel starts to move, this time without stopping to load a person in.
Ben puts his arm around me, and I lean into him. We stare off into the horizon.
"Wow, the city is beautiful tonight," Ben says.
My eyes shift from light to light. Each one illuminating the area around it.
"It reminds me of stars. They are all so beautiful, some different colors, and all of them mysterious. They only come out when it's dark, so no one gets bored of their dancing."
He looks at me with dreamy eyes, "god, I love you so much, Kate."
The Ferris wheel screeches to a stop and were at the highest point. Ben and I look at each other.
Our lips touch, and it's like nothing I've ever felt before. Not that I haven't kissed Ben before, but this kiss feels different. It is magical, like it means that life for us is finally perfect, and I know it is. It has to be.
The kiss lasts for what seems like a lifetime, but we both soon release, needing a breath.
We pause, but finally, my eyes catch his, and I simply say, "I love you, too."
The End
