Instagram was becoming pretty boring as you sat and scrolled quickly, liking pictures and commenting when needed. Then your eyes landed on Sam’s username as you scrolled, leading into a picture of the beautiful slopes and your beautiful boyfriend. You smiled happily as you clicked on his profile and looked through his pictures.

He had taken a job as a host at a ski lodge in Paris and had been gone since the end of November and would be gone until the end of April. This meant that you were spending a majority of your time on social media and reading books, Netflix was also practically always on the TV screen or music was in the background to help pierce through the dull silence.

Sam was supposed to be back in about three weeks and the visit you had JUST taken with the Holland’s a month ago seemed like forever ago. So while you scrolled through his pictures, new and old, you felt homesick for your second home. You eagerly clicked on the pictures he has been tagged in, looking through the different pictures from fan accounts of some of the friends you had met while there.

Then you saw it. The bright white of the snowy slopes in the background stood out and attracted your eyes, so you clicked on it and watch it load. Then you saw her with her arm wrapped around his waist, a cigarette and beer stuck in her free hand with a smug smirk on her plump lips. She was thin, but curvy, much like yourself. Her dark, slick hair was pulled back into a pony tail and her tan skin glowed brightly.

You tensed up as you clicked on her profile, looking at the many pictures of her and Sam together. He had mentioned her, of course, but never once sounded like he was ever more interested in her than you. You had also met her, speaking to her when she was around, which was less than she was in these pictures.

Suddenly, as if on cue, Sam’s bright face popped up on your phone and your tense figure relaxed slightly. You answered the FaceTime quickly, smiling brightly and pushing the pictures to the back of your mind.

“Hello, love. How are you today?” Sam said with a flirty smile gracing his lips and smirking at you with his freckles dancing across his face. You blushed slightly and chuckled at him, “Hello Sammy! I’m doing well, darling. How’s the slopes?”

“They’re good but I’m really missing you! We are starting to slow down so maybe…you could come soon. Just to visit! You don’t have to ski, just come to see me.” He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively at you. A laugh erupted from your lips as your threw your head back and covered your mouth. Sam laughed along with a jolly tone in his voice and once you were finished he just stared at you with a lazy smile on his lips.

“I really miss you.”

“I miss you too baby,” Sam’s cheeks blushed at your words and he winked at you with bright eyes. You loved his child like wonder and his one of a kind personality that never ceased to make you smile or feel better after a long, revealing day.

“I’ve got to go, but I’ll be sure to call you tonight…Maybe you could send me a pic,…like the other day…-”

“Sam! That was an accident!” You blushed furiously but had a large smile on your face.

“I know, I know,” He chuckled out, “but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t enjoy it…” He eyes held a mischievous glint in them that intrigued you. You had been making Sam wait, the trip was just making it easy but hard at the same time, but looking at him now…and after that comment…you couldn’t wait till the next time you get to see him.
