That's it, it's now or never.

I can't do this forever

'Cause all this stormy weather's got me running wild.

Kim Taehyung had been around since before you could even remember. At first, he was just your dorky older brother's dorky best friend. But, once they both entered high school, he began to change. For starters, he got tall. He practically towered over you when he came over to play games with Jimin, teasing you in the kitchen. You could not help but notice how handsome he had gotten. Maybe he was always handsome, and it took you so long to notice, but whatever had happened, you had been crushing on him for years now. However, for various reasons, you repressed your crush on the elusive Kim Taehyung. According to Jimin, boys, especially Mr. Kim, were off limits. He would often use him an example of the many reasons why you should avoid boys at all costs.

"He takes girls out on a few dates, and then just dumps them. No explanation or anything. High school boys are dumb like that. They have no idea what they want, and they take, they don't think, and they hurt girls. Understand? I don't want you to get hurt. Kim Taehyung is not an atypical guy. Most guys are like that, Y/N. Please, I beg you, stay away. The last thing I want is to see you hurt. I love you, Y/N," Jimin had said once during one of his long brotherly rants to you. You did appreciate the fact that your brother cared for so much for you, but it honestly suffocated you.

Whatever the case, you knew Kim Taehyung had a bad reputation. You wondered why your goody-two-shoes brother hung out with someone with such a bad rep. Maybe something about loyalty. You were not sure.

It always kind of felt like Taehyung had tolerated your existence when he had stopped by your house. You were just the bratty little sister that his best friend cared so deeply for regardless. He would find ways to make you mad, and you despised him for it. It almost felt like you had a third brother.

There he was, standing behind you, looking at the poster just as you were

There he was, standing behind you, looking at the poster just as you were. He tapped you on your shoulder. You quickly turned around and had to cock your head upward to meet his gaze.

"What do you think is going on in this one?" he asked, pointing to the kissing couple on the poster.

"Well, besides the obvious kiss situation going on here... I think it's a pretty reasonable deduction that this woman has absolutely no desire to be kissing this man," you asserted, pensive in your response. You were surprised when he chuckled a bit.

"What makes you say that?" he inquired.

"Are you blind?" you retorted, causing him to be taken aback, but in a cute way—like what you said had surprised him, amused him. You kind of lost your train of thought when you looked up at him, adrift in the way he was looking at you. It was a moment you wished you could have captured in a series of photographs.

"She's clearly uncomfortable. Neither one of her hands is touching him. And he has an arm hooked around her neck. He's practically choking her... Damn, so romantic!"

He playfully hit your arm. You scoffed at him.

"What was that for?"

"Swearing! I expected much more from Jimin's little sister," he pouted, taking a seat on one of the stools set into pairs throughout the room.

"Oh, my bad," you remarked sarcastically. "Sorry, Taehyung-Oppa!" you coyly responded, in a high-pitched, pouty voice.  It sounded cute, but surely a lot of sass powered behind its cuteness. He shook his head playfully, a breathy laugh escaping his lips.

"Take a seat," he said, gesturing to the empty stool beside him. You were skeptical at first because you figured that the pairs of seats would implicate some sort of partnership for the class. You looked around the room for someone you knew and could not find anyone else, no lifelines to get you out of this situation.

You sighed. You would have to settle for someone like Kim Taehyung.

You pouted, taking your seat without saying a word. He laughed at your dramatics. You rolled your eyes and continued to ignore him. You could not help but feel the eyes burning through your skin. You still refused to turn your head toward him. For the first time all day, you forced yourself to pay attention to the teacher.

"For this introductory photography course, I'd like to start with something practical. As most of you are aspiring photographers, most lines of work will end up requiring you to be very skilled in this department—Portraits."

Oh no.

"That's right," your teacher continued. "Turn to the person next to you. Meet your partner for the semester. You will be each other's models. I expect great work," he paused for a moment to allow the pairs of students to glance at each other. You did not turn your head but shifted your eyes toward Taehyung who was smiling smugly. Part of you wanted to punch him, but another part wanted to smile back. "Now, I want you to take the rest of the period to start to get to know each other, which is another important skill of photography—Know your muse."

There was a bit of silence in the room before the teacher continued. "Talk! Permission has been granted. Don't hold back! I'll be lounging at my desk if you have any questions, but if this room doesn't erupt in banter in the five seconds after I stop speaking, I will assign something. Yeah, I'll be the teacher that assigns something on the first day. So, be cool and just hang out, would you?" he asserted before sitting back in his desk chair, throwing his feet up on the desk and leaning back so that his chair was almost hitting the wall.

Awkwardly, the conversations picked up between all the other pairs. The tension brewed between you and Taehyung as you still refused to turn his way. He would eventually—after accepting your stubbornness—curve your way, leaning his body forward so he could peer over at you.

A smug smirk spread across his face as he looked directly into your eyes.

"Looks like I'm your muse," he chirped, not breaking his stare.

Once again, the power of his gaze had you almost lost in a trance.  If only you could pull out your camera and capture the moment to keep.

You snapped yourself back to reality before copying his dopey smile.

"You wish," you said before turning away from him. He chuckled. You knew this was going to be a long and exhausting semester, but part of you was kind of glad. You were excited to get to see a side of Taehyung that you were not permitted to see when Jimin was around. You were hoping that the relentless teasing would stop so you could begin to see if there was actually a person hidden behind it. You wanted to know if all the things people said about Taehyung were true. But most of all, you just wanted to know him.

You did not expect the first day of high school to turn out this way. You would not let him know it, but you were glad that Taehyung was your muse and that you were his.
