As soon as you walked through the doors and into the school, you rushed away from your brothers and Taehyung without a second thought. The wink was a little too much for you to handle. You also feared that perhaps Jimin had taken notice of Taehyung's obvious flirting. It made you incredibly anxious. You were beginning to have second thoughts about your revenge plan, not really having realized how much it would end up hurting Jimin, especially considering the way you were choosing to go about it. Seriously—his best friend? Was that really the kind of person you wanted to be?
Even you realized how cruel you were being. You did not want to be in it for the wrong reasons. You decided at that moment that you were not going to try to make your relationship with Taehyung—whatever it was—escalate any faster than it was right then. Honestly, you just wanted it to stop where it was. The fast-paced change was getting to you. You thought you were ready for these types of feelings, but you obviously were not.
You would stay friends with Taehyung for now. That was good enough for you. You would still be happy that way, and Jimin would be happy, and everything would be fine. Plus, you would not have to let the ever-growing guilt make home in your heart.
You rounded the corner. After you checked to make sure that nobody had followed you, you leaned against a locker, starting to catch your breath. Your brain finally stopped spinning around all of your anxious thoughts.
You had never been so agitated and intrigued at the same time. You did not really think someone could have that much power over you. You were frustrated. Part of you wanted it to return to normal, where Taehyung was just your brother's best friend. But, the other part of you knew there was no going back at this point.
You were relieved to see you best friend taking her books from her locker. She saw you walking toward her and smiled brightly.
"How was the walk to school this morning?" she asked, a sly smile on her face.
You rolled down to the lockers next to hers and let out a guttural "ugh" before simply stating—"I wanted to hit him with a rock."
"Sounds like fun," she joked, closing her locker and locking the lock.
"It was an absolute blast," you replied sarcastically, which had become your usual tone toward the girl who had come to know you so well.
"I'm glad you find him so irritating. You two are perfect for each other," she looked directly at you, knowing exactly the sins she had just committed.
You slapped her shoulder.
"You irritate me. There's nothing perfect about this situation and you know that. Now let's get to Lit. We had an assignment due today, if anyone asks," you remarked, to which she laughed.
You went to class, but the worries were still settled in the back of your mind. How would Jimin react if he ever found out that your relationship with Taehyung was becoming increasingly less platonic—almost in a scary, uncontrollable kind of way? Maybe you were reading too much into things. Maybe you got it all wrong. The thought still lingered. Taehyung was acting differently toward you, and you were so afraid of what that meant.
